I'm getting the 18 inch winter package for the M3 tomorrow. As it is our only car we plan to use it all year around. So the car will see plenty of snow this winter :-) We have a cabin in the mountains so the car will be packed with skis and plenty of stuff for those trips.
You should have no problems driving in snow with good winter tires. One thing you need to note is an M3 starts to act as a snow plow when the snow is about 4.5 inches (11.5 cm?). So, you might want to avoid unplowed roads on the way to your cabin in the mountains!

Do you run 10w60 in the winter or do you change it before winter?

Picking up a set of 18" inch OEM M3 winter wheels with tires today. Bought it used at "blocket". Came of a swedish E90 M3 :-)

Great to have some swedish people around
Ha, no surprises, got a set of M3 OEM on Blocket too last winter! 260 (or 270 whatever) - good looking but might need spacer at least rear, we'll see...

You too, good to see some fellow vikings on the forum! We do have quite a few M3 E9x around but don't seem many are active on this forum.

Good catch with the E90, the sedan is quite rare thought. Found one myself as need to fit in colleagues and family now and then. And kind of like the "piggy"look too...

Höres!

Picked up the wheels and tires today. No dings or dents so perfect condition.

However, I need a new set of tires? Any recommendations on winter tires i 245/40-18?

It seems that a lot of people run 20mm spacers at the back with 245's.

Original BMW winter tire set is 235/40R18, square set up.

For the tires I would recommend Michelin Alpine PA4. I was reading nice reviews.

Have the Alpine PA3 myself. Maintain nice driving on dry winter roads while obviously not comparable with Nordic winter tires on snow. As we don't get too much snow over here it was a good choice.
