Funny Engine Oil Update in Owners Manual

So I was sifting through the Downloadable Digital Owner's Manual from BMW USA... and happened to notice... they no longer call 10w-60 an Approved Engine oil....

Just thought i'd give some of you a chuckle... I attached the PDF Page in the Maintenance section for kicks...

This is out of the Vin Specific M3 Manual (btw)

BMW recommends specifically 10w60 ONLY.

This manual is just incorrect and/or not for the M3.

That's why i said it's funny, it IS for the M3...
Both of these were pulled using my US Vin

Not here to beat a dead horse or anything.. like i said, was just surfing around looking for a copy to keep, got curious... and found that. One of them even shows a 2013 BMW AG Printing.. *Shrug*

Still funny to me i guess...

The way I read it, M3 before 2014 are excluded, so the oils in the posted chart are not for the E9xM3.

Typically you run thinner oils as you reduce clearance. So perhaps they have a tight spec but they manage the tolerance stack properly? Or, perhaps they designed the engine properly this time as the S55 has not yet started to spin bearings...

Wonder if anyone actually has the "/" measurements from the S63 and S55. Would be interesting to know what BMW designed those engines with.

I wasn't concerned with the chart, i meant regarding the 'updated' M3 Owner's Manual. Which is what peaked my interest.

if anything, it just makes me even more curious of there has been internal paperwork updates since the manual has been (technicall) updated.

*shrug* who knows *shrug*

Yeah, its my Swenglish that doesn't translate very well. Meant I thought S55 shells was opened up hence surpriced over the lighter oil.

It would be nice to know all the details from the S55 and S63. The S63 makes all of the power in the world and seems to be pretty bulletproof.
