E92 dash cam

My dash cam was working fine (correct fuses used) in both parking and driving mode (w/ power magic pro) when tapped directly into the fuse itself (wrapped wire end around the fuse prong, not advised). I then unwired and added fuse taps for safety purposes, and it's not working.

Here's where I'm going wrong and seeking help with:

1. I believe the position of the fuse tap is important when being plugged back into the fuse slot? i.e. plugged in one direction, or plugged in the other direction.
2. The fuse that was taken out of the board, should be plugged into the 'back' slot of the fuse tap?
3. Does the direction of the fuse plugged into the tap matter?
4. What size fuse is needed to power the device (couldn't get any info from the supplier).

Second to that, is there a resource for our specific model/spec that shows what fuses we should have, and what slots should be empty?

1. Yes, it is important. Take a multimeter/voltmeter and touch the black lead to a ground (something like a dashboard bolt or another unpainted bolt), then remove the fuse and use the red lead to see which side is receiving the power. You want to orient the fuse tap so the side with the output lead is OPPOSITE the side receiving power in the fuse box. Think of it like this: you want the power to run THROUGH the fuse and out the other side to the output wire. So, if the power is coming in on the left, you want the output to be oriented to the right. Otherwise, the power will go straight out without traveling through the fuse (not good).
2. The original fuse should go closest to the prongs, and the tapped fuse should go on the outside near the red output lead of the tap.
3. Direction of the fuse does not matter.
4. I generally use a 2A fuse on all my cars and haven't had any issues. They don't draw much power, and a 2A is a common fuse. You could even try 1A if you have those fuses (I have a bunch of 2A).
