Got my AS shifter installed yesterday. 15% throw redux, stock height. SO GOOD. This is what the car should've come with stock.
Still notchy, takes effort to put the shifter into gear, but no slop, feels very precise. |

I've heard no, but a recent post in the DIYer section suggests otherwise

Trying to debate between IRP and Autosolution... To remain factory look autosolution is the way to go but Ive heard good things of extended shifter and IRP feeling.

There is no online ordering. You have to call Ronald to order. He'll go through options with you and build it according to your specs. --mike |

Exhaust mid section needs to be lowered, not removed. Trans does not need to move. you remove the heat shielding above the mid section and you have enough space to do the swap.

HERE IS AN AUTOSOLUTIONS SHIFTER ON A BMW M235I
An AutoSolutions Shift Kit to replace the plastic ball, cup and the cushioned stick shift. I got the stock-like 7% shift throw reduction. A 20% shorter shift kit is available too. $460 and well worth it. THE NOTCHINESS IS GONE. It is simply perfect. Solid. Accurate. Rifle-bolt feel. If you want the absolute best shifting in your BMW, I cannot recommend this shifter enough. |

A tenth of a second is a huge difference in racing. Watch qualifying in any race series and tenth, hundreds and thousandths may mean P1 or P2. A tenth of a second per lap in a long race translates into full seconds over the full race. This is why most race cars have paddles. I don't have a dog in the fight because I like both but which is faster in a race is and has been proven already. Accept it 3 pedalers.

Damn, I thought I had the only single hump manual E90 on the planet. Anyways, did you leave the shift carrier in place? If so, I guess you had to cut/grind down a hex key to do the hex screws?

Haha, Im sure we are two of the few. Yes, I left the carrier in place, used a file to give the new shifter clearance and did cut down the allen key for the drivers side screws.

The AS kit includes new carrier bushings as well...so you have to take it aloose to put them in. I just pulled the carrier out also and put the new collar in outside the car..no cutting the Allen key down. It does take a fair amount of finagling to get it back in place especially stabbing the rear carrier bushing. |

Those that DIYed the Autosolutions, did you replace the part I highlighted in red? That was the most hilariously difficult part of the job.

I did. Wasnt that difficult. I installed the rod as one piece. Once you move the circlip out of the way, you can use an allen key to push the pin down and out from the top. |

Yeah that's how I did it too, but between that and the rear carrier bushing, my knuckles are busted up. I don't recall having such a hard time when I installed my UUC.
