Gonna add my $0.02 here-----if you have two track days, maybe on the 13th you could go to Buttonwillow. Extreme Speed events can get crowded, but I would still suggest a day at Buttonwillow over staying 2 days at Willow Springs. Or if you have a bit more of a budget, you could do your 2 days at Willow Springs and then do a semi-exclusive booking at Buttonwillow ($675) and go on your own, so you're not sitting in a crowded track day. Buttonwillow really is the benchmark measuring stick around here.
Thanks I'll check them out!!! I'll be with Topak Racing (won a free track pass). It's my first time going with that group but I think its one day at each track. I missed out on their Buttonwillow event because I didn't have much time to plan it out.

i looked into renting a miata for laguna seca for my gf's dad, and i think it was like $800, but it doesn't include entry/etc. laguna isn't a super technical i guess, but i really enjoy it and it is my favorite track. i think the experience of the 3-4 day vacations surrounding the track day also plays into it. it seems like the older i get, the less things i really like, and track days are one of the few things i really like- and a laguna seca trip is on top of that.

"The Genesee Valley BMW CCA Chapter created and published an unauthorized policy banning BMW's with Driver Aids from participating in HPDEs. The national BMW CCA office does not share their opinion and is discussing the issue with the chapter.

BMW NA is working closely with the national BMW CCA office to educate and develop a nationwide procedure for including BMWs with Driver Aids in HPDEs. Most advanced driver aids like lane departure warning and blind spot detection do not affect the ability of the driver to control the car on-track at high speed. In addition the systems can be shut off so that they are also not a distraction to a student."

From the national office.

FYI my F82 has the driver assistance features but it can be disabled and has no impact on controllability at the track.

looks like my engine mounts are starting show signs of cracking. What did you guys upgrade/replace yours with? I'm looking at AKG's engine mounts right now.. Any thoughts?

I stuck with stock engine mounts, couldn't really get a clean answer as to what was "better".

Going to be adding some lightness for bw this weekend. I'm registered and good to go. Can't wait to see what this track is all about. I'll make a more detailed post when I get the antigravity battery in.

although i'm not familiar with all that new tech stuff, without knowing anything about it, i was pretty sure you could turn it all off... i think someone may have jumped the gun in banning those features.

In Ontario, the Trillium chapter won't allow drivers to take cars with these options on track, regardless of whether or not they can be disabled for fear of the cars re-enabling the software in an 'emergency'. That, and they don't want to be responsible if something bad happens to the cars systems as a result of being disabled.

Something will have to be sorted out sooner than later, over time this will have a big impact on the sport.

i have the vibratechnics "road" kit. it honestly didn't make a monumental difference that i noticed, and i notice a lot of subtle things. it could be that they don't make a huge difference until you get a significant load on them... i don't know. they have a little dyno chart included with the pics of their mounts. they aren't nesecarily cheap, but i was willing to try them out. i think they are rebuildable as well.

Advanced, but depending on group sizes, I'll volunteer to bump down as I learn the track. I do want to follow you a bit though and learn the track. i just don't want to be a scrub in the advanced group learning the track when the fast guys are trying to put down hot laps in the morning.

Buttonwillow is super technical and the guys in the advanced group tend to be pretty decent drivers. I would strongly suggest starting off in intermediate and moving up later after some consistency sets in. No need to put the extra pressure on yourself while trying to learn the lines, braking zones, passing zones, etc.
