Carpet removal

Can anyone point me in the right direction on a few tips to remove carpet? Mainly the center console. Searched but most are partial since they are replacing something only.

I plan to put the center trim back so do I just cut right under the edges instead then?

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to remove the entire dash, dash bracket, and heater core to get the front section of the carpet out.

Or you can cut it out but there are probably wires under the carpet somewhere.

For the dash part I'll cut carefully. But everything else I'll remove

You can ID all the wires before you cut once you remove the shifter boot and loosen the fasteners on the center console. You can cut pretty far up underneath the stereo unit.

Finding all the fasteners for the center console trim took a little patience.

Any ideas how to pull the speaker plug? Seems like some Buttonwillow dirt got caked on it. I'm pushing in the pin but won't budge lol

what if you unscrew it to lift it out first?

i think you should take the dash out to get all the carpet you can. if you're going to do it, do it 100%. it would bug me leaving 8lbs of carpet under there.

I found a great diy. You cut a certain way and all the pieces slide out. There is some sort of sensor that goes into a pocket that is part of the carpet right in front of the shifter so I'm gonna leave that part in. It's a small little patch that I'll have to live with.

Almost cut a wire but fortunately it was the wire from the passenger floor speaker.

Speaker, cover, and screws weight 7.4lbs one side.

You don't go commando sometimes?

Looks stock when driving by but looks track weapon at cars and coffee or H&H. Lol

The only reason I did this is because even though it may be only 25-30 pounds (prob not worth it to do just this alone), I'm putting in a cf sunroof panel so together it adds up to a good amount.

There's still a ton of wiring, airbag module and wires associated, idrive CD player AC heater core, etc - but that's later when I won't drive it on the street.

I think my friend put his ac back in after failed attempts driving back home or to track with a USB powered fan velcroed to the dash just blowing hot ass air

Heater might be useful just for the defroster. I probably wouldn't get rid of it.
