So I am deciding if I should do the coding myself or pay for this(with a tune). I was a software coder for 11 years so I am very comfortable with doing this stuff. My only worry is I take the car in for XXXX and somebody locks the car and the mirrors fold in(dig that code option) and they take notice. How do I explain why my M3 had "features" which the dealer has never seen before?

Your car already has all the features, they're just turned off. In some other market somewhere in the world, they are turned on from the factory. With feature coding, you're just turning the features on. It will look like your car rolled off the assembly line like that.

The dealer won't notice and even if someone did the most they would think is "hmm, that's cool. I didn't think it could do that. I wonder if mine does." It's highly unlikely they will think "wait a minute, did this guy go online, buy an OBD to USB cable, download software, plug into his car and turn this feature on himself?"

Code away, my friend.
