O2 Sensor Keeps needing replacement
Originally got my bank o2 sensor replaced around a year ago and It needed replacing again about 10k ago and now again it is throwing codes. It has been replaced with brand new oem sensors each time; what underlying issues would keep causing this to happen?

Wish I knew as well. I've replaced 3 in 38k miles. What are your mods?

Are you guys all going with the BMW or cheaper Bosch replacements? Maybe there is a trend here.

Typically, the more expensive an O2 sensor is, the longer it lasts. Not sure what they use to make them, but that's been my experience. Little buggers aren't cheap!

I got the engine light with "Increased Emissions" recently and the code was to replace the left bank O2 sensor. Got my mechanic to replace it with OEM part I got from the dealer. After 1-2 days of occasional driving the light comes back on and is for the O2 sensor again!! WTF?!?!?! Now my mechanic doesn't know wtf is going on because we just replaced the sensor but the light + increased emissions keeps coming back....
Anyone have this experience and know wtf is wrong? I prefer not to go to the dealer because I'd like to be able to find out the actual issue first. |

No test pipes or any other performance mods. ONLY the Megan Racing axle-back. Swapped my intake filter since it was really dirty if that info matters?

You guys are scaring me with this. I'm at 84K now and was going to replace mine when I do my test pipes soon but now I think I'll stick with the originals.

Just want to add that the way you install/uninstall 02 sensors is very important. I can't tell you how many times I see them being installed by letting them bang together or twist the harness instead of unclipping them then unscrew. My 2011 M3 when my test pipes were being installed I saw the installer twist my 02 sensors to get them out of the xpipe and I cringed. I told them that if that 02 sensor goes bad you are buying me a new one. Sure enough, 3 weeks later I got a bad bank 2 front and rear sensor, the ones he twisted.
Install of these things is important. dave

S85 and S54 front bank O2 sensors will prematurely fail as well from the same issue. No more twisty.

These O2 sensors faults are pissing me off
I replaced all 4 of my O2 sensors today
These were my faults P0037: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 1 Sensor 2 P0057: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low Bank 2 Sensor 2 P0030: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1 P0050: HO2S Heater Control Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1 Once I changed the sensors I clear the faults and thought I was good I let the car run for about 10 min no check engine light or increased emissions. I cut the car off after 10 min and here we go again check engine light is back and increased emissions Cleared the codes again took the car on a 1hr drive on the highway no faults, no codes, no check engine light or increased emissions. I get back home cut the car off and soon as I cut it back on once again check engine light, increased emissions fault. WTF These are my new faults 273F: DME Oxygen sensor final stage diagnosis heater before cat converter, bank 2 272C: DME Oxygen sensor, output-stage diagnosis heater behind cat bank 1 273E: DME Oxgen sensor final stage diagnosis heater before cat converter bank 1 272D: DME Oxygen sensor output-stage diagnosis heater behind cat bank 2 My M3 is Supercharged catless, with American Racing Long Tube Headers, ARH 3inch X-pipe catless with Gintani Race Exhaust I don't know what I should do next this is getting old real quick. I am not going to go buy more O2 sensors

The oem themostat is 40 bucks and the oem coolant temp sensor is 30 bucks. It's 3 hours labor to change both. Might be worth a shot |
