Clean and Simple: Silverstone E90 ZCP

Simple and clean, OEM +

That’s the theme at least that I am going with for this car. Met up with a local M enthusiast that does some great photography. One thing I deeply regret is never getting some high quality shots of my previous BMW which was an E93 328i that I had the last 7 years. This was a special moment for me since I had been wanting the E9X ever since it came out when I started college in '08. Seeing such great pictures from the photo shoot and knowing that they are of my very own M car is pretty surreal. Right now it sits at 67.4k miles and is an absolute dream to start up whether it’s for a cruise or after a long stressful day at work.

I spent some time during my PTO around New Years doing a clay, seal and wax. Didn’t do a polish because the paint looks to be in great shape and I have no prior polishing experience (although I am definitely interested in learning). Still haven’t had a chance to do a full interior or engine bay deep clean but those are on the agenda as well.

Mods so far are
-OEM Exhaust Mod
-OEM Carpet Floor Mats
-Lux H8 180 Angel Eyes
-IND Painted Reflectors
-Future Classic 15mm Front and 12mm Rear spacers

Upcoming plans
-Rod bearings
-KW HAS
-GTS (style) lip

And that will most likely do it. My dream mods are still probably a few years out
-Eisenmann Race
-Challenge RKP Sport x-pipe
-ESS Tune
-Ohlins R&T coilovers
-18” BBS FI with red center caps
-Challenge RKP Trunk

Photo credit to @hostile.media on Instagram and I have an account for the car @zcpe90 so give me and him a follow! Thanks for looking

Great photos. I agree, clean modding...less is more. Great looking E90, will really set it off after the suspension.

Thanks for the kind words

I love them. Came with everything you need. They are pricier than say Macht Schnell or Turner, but they have had zero vibration reported and I was so worried about that with other brands. Been on a month and up to 85mph without a single hiccup. The 15/12 combo is really nice.

Great, thanks I ordered a pair along with the ohlins coilovers back in November, but haven’t had a chance to install them. Also waiting to do the rod bearings most likely do them in 2 weeks, car only has 39,700 miles.

Looks so good! Also great to hear no vibration with those spacers.

Thanks man we still need to meet up at Lafayette! I'll let you know next time I'm up in Raleigh. And nothing but great things to say about these spacers.

Hmm interesting. I installed a set of 12/10 Macht Schnell spacers. Have uninstalled and re-installed three times now. Still getting vibrations around 80mph. Driving me insane. Cleaned the hub, rotor hat, spacer each time, even bought and used wheel hangers thinking maybe they weren't seating right. Vibrations only occur around 80-85mph but they are definitely noticeable. I haven't heard Macht Schnell has vibration issues necessarily but maybe I'll try the future classics instead? I love the way it currently sits but man I'm about to just take them off at this point and live with the gap..
Sorry, ranting. Beautiful e90. Love that first picture. I'm a big OEM+ guy too so I can appreciated the effort. Always loved the Silverstone but couldn't find one in the spec I was looking for and went Space Grey instead. Congratulations.

Hey man I hear the frustration. Like I said I was paranoid about vibration. The fact they have sold over a thousand and no reported cases was plenty of reassurance for me. I still think I maybe have read only one or two vibration issues with Macht Schnell but I'm sure they have sold 100x more.

I think it's definitely worth a shot to give the FC spacers a chance.

As far as the cars go I appreciate the kind words! You really can't pick a bad color for the E9x. I love them all, and my E93 was space gray. I had my heart set on Melbourne red for the M3 but this Silverstone popped up locally and after seeing it on a sunny day I knew I had to have it. Haha.

Super clean indeed. Amazing what spacers and painted reflectors can do. I'll probably start a small build thread soon as I start to mod my E90. Looking forward to seeing more of this.

Thank you! I completely agree. I cringe a little when I see them tucked in old photos. That's a great idea about the build thread, those are always fun to follow. I will probably make one once I get the next level of mods ordered.

That just looks proper and will age very well.

Fun fact: spacers usually don't cause vibration but only amplify an existing problem!

Nice photos, these cars are soo photogenic in lighter colors (AW2, SS2, SG).

on a side note, looks like your brake rotors have seen better days, and that oil filler cap is weeping (very common on original cap).

Yea I agree the lines definitely come out on lighter colors.

As far as the oil cap what is the solution again? Just replacing with a new cap?

As far as the brakes go I believe they're fine. I have some streaking on them from just having the car washed and only driving a few blocks to take the pics so not all the post wash rust came off.

the older oil cap from e46 m3 seems to be the solution, and it has a nice ///M on it as a bonus.

those brake rotors appear to have a good amount of grooving, as well as a nice lip on the edge. IMO they are due for a change, but thats just me.
