Brake Pad Change Interval Very Long/CBS Faulty?

Recently took car to dealer for maintenance. My SA told me brake fluid needs to be done next service but good news is my brake pads look great. They measured 14mm front and 12mm rear.

The car is a 2013 with 23k miles...don't new pads measure 14mm? iDrive says front brakes need replacing in 29,000 miles and the rears needs replacing at 41,000 miles. Sound sketchy for pads to "last that long"?

Searched the threads and people seem to get 20-30k miles out of a set of pads. No history of replacement on my car, I bought it with 13k miles. I know CBS is based on your driving but something isn't adding up.

Thoughts?

Anyone get more than 50k miles out of their OEM brake pads?

I bought mine at 22k - however the original owner had Brembos throughout the entire ownership. So I virtually have brand new OE brakes and my car indicates that I don't have to change them for another 14k miles.

Pads on this car seem to last a long time if you don't track with the stock pads. My pads/rotors came off at 26 or 27k miles (I forget) and they had a ton of meat on both. I was pretty surprised, but wanted to put on the ECS rotors and some Cool Carbon pads.

Mine went to 65k, and would've gone longer had I not melted them at the track last fall.

The OEM pads (and rotors) are quite thick -- obviously for performance reasons, but also because BMW doesn't want to pay for replacing them under the 4/50 free maintenance period.

My SA has said that the CBS is only of limited use on brake replacement. Just visually inspect them and replace when they look worn.

2011 on original OEM pads after 70,000 Km. It's a DD and never tracked.
