How hot are your oil temps getting?

(This happens to me too at most tracks. Luckily it stays over on the passenger side. Driver side stays clear. When that stuff dries and sits there for awhile, it's hard to get off.....ask me how I know....)
Want to split a pair of wristbands? Lol

280-290 in Jun at Houston MSR. It was hot and humid for Houston standards. I'm kinda OK with that when taking the conditions into account. Long story...but it runs at 250 for a awhile then the temps start to jump up. Likely heat soak from the headers. It's an improvement...especially since my water temps never went above 208.

The problem is it takes awhile to get past 180 to get to 220-230. I can imagine it will be more of an issue in cooler weather.

This is an E46 M3. I'm running dual oil coolers - 185 dog thermostat, OE cooler and a secondary cooler as shown in the pic. I made some improvements which should add some more cooling. I added a lid to the enclosure which should direct more air through the cooler. I plan to swaintech coat the headers and a shield between the oil cooler and head to reduce heat soak.

The E9X doesn't have the room. I think a smaller water to oil heat exchanger will be a better solution.

I am only getting to 255 with zionsville and BW cooler. You should be in same ballpark.

I'm at 255 oil/200 water until I get 15 min into a stint using 2nd and going to redline each shift. If I shift at 7000-7500 and stay in 3rd, never had an issue with temps.

I'm still on the original OEM oil cooler which I need to swap out with a fresh OEM unit.

i got them painted to match the car because my ocd wouldn't allow a matte black part on the car with the oem shadowline trim... its gloss black or its painted.

I really like the look of these vents but not a fan of the rivets. Is there a way to mount them cleaner, without using rivets? Can they be mounted under the hood, instead of on top?

lol the rivets look fine

Under the hood? Come on. No

Bolts would look hideous without them being counter sunk ,which there inst enough real-estate on the vents to do so.

Easy answer is don't bother doing vents lol

contact trackspec and ask them to make you a set without the drill holes. they are very helpful and may be able to do that for you.
they were able to get me a non-powdercoated set so i could paint them.

if you want a clean install, install them on top and glue them on. if you try to mount from the bottom, the cuts are going to show and it won't be very clean at all.
