Deal or No Deal (Trade bare 08 M3 for loaded 10 Vert)

Cliffnotes on my switch I have a BARE (heated seats only) 08 M3 with about 17k on the clock.. Carmax offered me 41 for the vehicle..

A BMW dealer about an hour away has a 10 BMW M3 Convertible with premium, dct, tech, cold weather black on beige. they are asking 65,1 for it. VA sales tax is 3%

They are telling me their ALL in deal would be my car plus 26,2 from me, which after calculations leads me to believe they are matching Carmax and not moving on the M3 at all from their internet price..

Good/Bad deal?

Is it new/used? Miles? Are you buying/financing/leasing? I think you could start with lower than 25k + your car. They can resell your car for more than Carmax would.

First thing I would do is research the price of the 10' Vert on Autotrader, this forum, etc. It sounds like you should offer at least a few thousand less than what the dealership is telling you is their "all in" number. Carmax is no different than any other car dealer in that they will buy your car at wholesale. You can always do better selling it on your own, just depends if you have the time and patience to do so........

Financing/Buying/Leasing? I'd offer them 22,1K to start. If financing or leasing through them, I wouldn't move much from that.

Buying outright - might finance some portion of the diff - here is a link to the exact car I think my original offer was the equivalent of 23+ my car out the door and they scoffed at it.. Of course, now its been sitting on the lot for 2 more weeks.
