Battery registration

Anyway to avoid the stealership when replacing our batteries? I understand it's not as simple as just switching and that you need to register/code the new battery.

I think certain code readers can perform battery registration. I have a foxwell 510 code scanner that supposedly does it. Welcomed to borrow it. Shoot me a pm if interested and masked

I've had success with Carly and the official adaptor on 3 different BMWs.

Bimmer geeks has free ncsexpert and ista etc..

Easiest tools to use and understand with plenty of research, if you're tech savvy of course and have some patience..

The Carly dongle did work but did not register the date of the new battery

Is registering the new date critical for proper functionality?

There will be consequences down the road if you don't, if nothing else shortening the life of your new battery. There's lots of information online about this.

Anybody know how to verify the battery registration with INPA or any of the other BMW tools? I downloaded the latest BMWTools setup from bimmergeeks and did the registration with tool32 successfully, but I don't know how to verify with INPA because the latest version won't let me change the sub menu language to English (I changed the languages in the INPA.ini file), and the options for the regular E90 in youtube videos are not the same as ours with the MSS60 selection.

For clarity, you were able to register your battery with the standard tools from Bimmergeeks and want to verify the registration using INPA?

Yea, I registered with tool32 and got the "okay" status which indicates successful registration...but I like to verify this type of thing if possible, in case the computers are lying to me. I know the non-M E90 owners can just check the registration dates in INPA.

Rec doing it as I know some don't and seem be fine

Helps let the car know and operate. I forget the details. Just install the battery yourself. Paying a Indy shop less 100 bucks I forgot exact cost worth that piece of mind.

If you have a dealer do it I've heard quotes from 400-600 ... I think cause the labor is exp ... and price battery

Doing install yourself and register would be like 300 depending on battery you pic.
