Driving my E93 M3 feels clunky now. I feel like I have to wait for the car to warm up, shift the into gear, wait for RPM to pick up before shifting and so on. Don't get me wrong my E93 is fast, but compared to the Tesla instant torque, it feels sluggish. The electronics on the car is like using your iPhone, integrated very well.

Anyway, I'm trying to figure out what to do with my 2013 E93 M3.

1) keep it. BMW no longer makes naturally aspirated V8 engine. It will be a rare car in 15 to 20 years (as more people go into electric cars). There will always be a market for 'loud and gas guzzling" cars even in the sea of electrified cars.

2) Sell it now. The days of gas driven cars are coming to a close. Get your $35k back now while the car has some value (less than 30k mile, premium package). In 10 years it will be worth $10k.

I know it will be a while before gasoline engines are gone (maybe even never), but will people appreciate large inefficient engines in the future? People don't look back and say, "geez, I miss the days of doing all that math with a slide rule. it kept your brain sharp" or, "gosh, it was so refreshing to hear the horse pull you and feeling the wind on the carriage." People moved on.

Sell it .... now! get what you can, some of you guy's out there that think these are going to be collector cars or go up in value are just simply dreaming. Your not alone either... most performance car forum's have a group of people that think their beloved vehicle has got be be a collector car of the future! and if you dont agree your a idiot.

To me These sound like the words of someone who is ready to move on , i know its hard for some of you to believe but... It happens all the time and yes even with E9X M3's.

Saw a couple of tesla model 3s on the track at Laguna Seca this past weekend. They were quite fast and surprized me with how well they did on the track. Laguna Seca has on site chargers for electric cars, so they were able to do all the sessions ( I had to drive off track to get cheaper gas).

They were also probably the only ones there not worried about passing the sound measurements ( it was a 90db day).

There also was a type S, but that was a pig in the corners .

It is the ultimate non-car.

Until recently I thought turbos, automatic transmissions and electric steering was the sign of a non-car.

Electric cars make an F80 M3 seem like the ultimate enthusiast car.

It's one thing to have an electric non-car (Smart, i3, whatever) as a daily driver but to replace an M3?

I am sorry but I don't see how anyone is impressed with the Tesla. The build quality is garbage, styling is garbage and the owner of the company has become a total dink. Every person that buys one is signing up for a roller coaster of depreciation in the next 1-3 years with more electric luxury cars coming.

I work in the car industry myself and I just am in disbelief with the coin people shell out for that thing.

In my opinion. Park the M3 if you own it out right for 6 months and you'll be sick of the Tesla by then. Right now it's new and you have the warm and fuzzy feeling about it.

OP, enjoy your new Tesla. This thread has become a bash electric cars. I’m sure it’s a great daily driver and a blast at stoplights.

Personally, I’d sell the e93 now and cut your losses. It’s the least desireable m3 from a performance perspective and will continue to plummet in value. If you miss the m3 in the future, get an e90/92, which offers much better overall performance.

Just a heads up to this. I am not bashing electric. It is the future of passenger automobiles no matter how much people don't agree but just say no to Tesla.

Some people daily their M3 and perhaps the Model 3 is a better daily than the M.

I haven't driven a Tesla however I can see it being a pretty exciting experience, especially with the more powerful models. Fact is - these electric cars are only going to get better and better (while lowering cost) as the tech evolves and in a few short years I can see them out performing traditional gas powered cars in every metric at the same price point.

Then again, maybe I dont know what a M3 really is? Right?

Lots of anger ITT. Lol

I would sell the M. But wait a few months to be sure. It's not gonna appreciate enough to truly be a good investment, all things considered.

I want to drive a Model 3 Perf. I doubt I would buy one but I'm intrigued.

Hahaha, it does look like a shoe, spot on! Then again, clearly quite a few like a car looking like a shoe. Better than a shoe looking like car. Yes...? (have a pair that says Bugatti on them so guess I'm closing up)

Did you ask the same question on a Tesla forum mate? Would be good fun to compare some answers! (+ I bet you'd receive more firm guidance on what to do with the poor petrol gussler).

Good luck!

I have a TM3 (there will only ever be one true m3) as well as the M3. I find them completely different purpose cars. The Tesla is an awesome daily driver--comfortable, torquey and spacious. The M3 is the one I choose when I know there's not going to be traffic or I'm gonna be hitting curvy roads. The M3 is the more fun option, by far.

Don't keep the M3 looking to capitalize off it later. If you're not holding on to it for the driving perfection, sell it to someone who will enjoy it.

But the e93 bashing continues unabated, I see. The difference in "overall performance" is negligible, and most drivers wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

I've also got a TM3 and a V8M3.

I wish I got a P3D (that's what they call the performance Model 3).

However since I don't have a P3D I just call my TM3 my beater car and my V8M3 my fun weekend car.

Both fun cars in their own ways. The TM3 is pretty quick... And is fun to drive in the turns. The V8M3 has such a glorious sound track though.

The thought has crossed my mind to pass the TM3 to my wife and sell the V8M3 and get a P3D... but one weekend spin in the V8M3 and I'd never do that.

I do have some mods on order for my TM3... coilovers + possibly Volk Racing Wheels to Match the mods on my V8M3.

I say have both... e93 would still be fun as a convertible with a nice V8 sound track.
