So far no suggestions from anyone on the route and stuff so I'm just going to take the lead here...

The idea so far:

Meet at 9am at the IHOP thats located at the Sully Place Shopping Center which is at rt28 and rt50. Get some food, wait for the late and lost to show up and leave around 10am.

Head west on rt 50 and follow this route: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...8fe84d7f1e5199

This is a roughly 130 mile drive over 3 1/2 hours not including stop time for pictures and lunch. It'll begin with the boring cruise down 50 at 60mph, don't get thrown off by the roundabouts.
Then we get on Snickersville pike, a really great back road. Don't focus too much on the car in front of you, look around, enjoy it.
That ends at rt 7, we take a left onto 7 and then immediate left again onto Blueridge Mt Rd. This is just one of those perfect mountain roads.
Then it's right on 50 and left on Red Gate, a good road with nice views. We pull over in the lot just before low water bridge to regroup and maybe do a group shot.
Then it's on to Front Royal and lunch, wherever that may be.
Then to the main Skyline Drive entrance.
Then exit Skyline at Rt 211 (This section of road is AMAZING and really best going up rather than down so if you really want to give your car a good work out, turn around and drive back up once you get to the bottom. Because that's what I'm going to do!)

Then it's just 211, a 2 lane no traffic 55mph highway, back to I66 and home.

Yeah I got stopped on the Beltway Sat night/Sun Am on the way home from pulling a 10hr urgent/acute care shift right before the exit to Rt 50. Was coming down from 95mph+ (acutally was merging into the rt merge lane to take the Rt 50 Annapolis exit and was probably doing around 77mph when I passed him) Think it was a K9 unit...anyway he stopped me asked if I knew that the speed limit was still 55mph in these parts and where I was going and coming from in such a hurry. I told him I just got off a shift, was an MD, and trying to get home and get some sleep before I had to go back in. He said "slow down, drive safe and see ya later." and let me go.

Cool cop; glad I had my white coat and scrubs hanging on the hook behind my head tho!

Dayum V8 will get you in trouble quickly every time!
