Also this question very important.

Thanks.

I will try to get a dyno booked relatively soon.

Regarding throttle response: it is excellent. Also the idle is solid. Acceleration through the full RPM band feels linear and not 'lumpy'. The biggest difference is how the car responds below ~ 5-6K. For me this is more 'useable' power for street driving and this was definitely more noticeable per butt dyno. I typically don't keep the car in the 6-8K range often, so having a lower end gain was bigger ROI. This is likely driving style dependent.

The low end gain, plus the jet-like whine and OEM look made the kit a favorite and worth the additional investment in my book.

I have not noticed any issues when letting off the throttle. Anything specific to address?

Its been an ongoing problem that hasn't been resolved. If you search the official thread you'll find it. It's the reason why I can't choose it over the other kits.

I wish I could run E85 to get a power bump but also that would take care of the oil cooling issues in 90+ weather I think.

Its sorta feels like the electronic bypass valve is closing and opening alot due to not applying the throttle super consistently so the engine is getting boost 1 second and not the next.

I will review. I have not noticed any of the above as prominent, but I will try to focus attention here for feedback. Nothing has been obvious.

Its a common call out. I find it easy to overcome with some throttle technique . You have to either feather the petal into acceleration if you are just crusing, or floor it to get full power when you are in the lower part of the RPM band. Its the in between where you start to floor it and back off that I get the issue under 5k rpm. Its really not a big deal to me, but it would be nice to see a sw fix in the future.

I believe its a pulley, injector and SW change.

And how is the 'whine' I personally WANT and LIKE the whine of the Harrop?

On the street when I hear cars with this type of Eaton blower I think it sounds great and those that know what a supercharger sounds like (like me) always look and admire cars with this type setup.

Oh! and recent or any videos inside or outside of the car (with Harrop)?

Thanks,
Merlin

It is only like a tiny tiny negative of the very positive overall experience

Welcome to the Harrop wagon OP

I have the harrop also, How does the speed compare between ess and harrop?

What you think would happen in a drag?

I bet the harrop is a lot easier day to day driving.

I am not sure about the speed comparison, that would probably be best done on dyno comparison. Overall the Harrop gives the car much more 'useable' power in the lower RPM range which is where I drive 90% of the time.

@BoostedM3

Hi, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a harrop SC for my e92 - Very much a dual duty car but not daily as I can walk / bike to work. Before making the investment curious if you're still enjoying the upgrade? Any issues that have arisen? Has BPM been responsive or pushed out intermittent software updates? I plan to install it myself, so their remote support is essential.

Still no regrets vs ESS?

Appreciate any updates.

ESS is coming out with a new centrifugal kit that improves low to midrange response over the existing kit. Worth asking about as you gather info to make your decision.

Theoretically. It was supposed to be released months ago and they’ve gone dark on it, i’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on a head unit for the used kit I bought and I’m tired of waiting.

I just bought the Harrop kit for my 2012 e93 because it had the best increase of torque compared to other superchargers. I looked at the Gintani TT but I didn’t like the fact you have to do the build in their shop(so if you live 1500 miles away it’s a huge hassle, it’s not as proven and cost twice the price.

Definitely the best kit out there. It changed the driving characteristics of the M3 completely. Sure, it may not have the top end of an ESS kit, but it more than makes up for it in the mid range with gobs of power. I’m moving on to my next project, and selling my Harrop as part of the part out process, but would advise anyone considering an SC to seriously consider this kit. The noise it makes is phenomenal as well.
