Ragged Point, CA

Made it to Ragged Point again. Foggy going up and clearing skies going home. Ocean went from gray to a deep blue.

I had Hanger Beef, which something I've never tried before. Very lean and very tender. It came with red rice and corn. And as always, the M235i felt right at home on Coast Highway 1.

I need to take more "on the way" shots as well. There were many rutty, bumpy dirt turnouts on the ocean side on the way home that I was tempted to take, but passed. My flimsy excuse is that I didn't want to get my brand new Michelin Super Sports dirty.

I completely understand! I would avoid a great restaurant or what have you if it had a dirt or grass parking lot so it doesnt get stuck to the tire dressing

A Very Special Place

Today, we drove south to a very special place for lunch. The Mason Bar & Kitchen is located on the corner of Mason St. and East Branch St. in Arroyo Grande, CA. My great-great grandfather owned and operated a general store in this exact location during the 1920's to 1940's. My mom worked there after school during the early to mid 1940's while waiting for her fiance' (my dad) to return home from WWII.

My wife had a Salmon Salad and I had a BLTA.

1-That must be touching to be inside that piece of family history
2-The BLT looks PERFECT
3-Def looks like a cool building, type of place I would like to visit. I'm picturing it as an old General Store now. With barrels full of nails, boxes full of electrical box fuses, and tools. Wish you had an old picture of it back in the day

Went over the Centennial Bridge to the Island. Lunch in Summerside at Brothers2 for a Lobster Club and a Gahan Brown Ale.

Bridge from the Island side.

I was going through some older pictures.

This is my trip to Mt. Washington two years ago in late September with a couple of Blue Knights who invited me to come along for the ride.

First stop was in Bethel, Maine for the evening. A very quaint pub and B&B.
I had the bangers and mash for dinner and a few Guinness.

The next morning was a perfect riding day, fresh and nothing but blue skies. I carried an electric vest because I knew the summit would be mighty chilly. Thank goodness for heated grips and saddle as well.

We stopped at the gate, paid the toll and got our stickers. Going up that narrow mountain road is not for the faint of heart. Especially on the long stretch of dirt and blind corners.

The T° went from 14°C to 4°C.

Enjoy the pics.

( Pic of the toll gate from their site.)

Found some from a few weeks ago also....took a ride a few exits away to Stottlemeyers Smokehouse. Great BARBQUE and bands under a Tiki hut behind a very non-descript gas station...just no where near water is the only downside.

Drove to Windsor, NS to eat at The Spitfire Arms. I heard they added a new outdoor area due to inside seating restrictions. They call it The Alley and for good reason because they simply added a roof to the alley between them and the building next door. It's a very pleasant space.
Of course drinks were first on the list after about an hour and a half cruising the "B" roads. I had a Schoolhouse Principal Ale that was brewed literally right across the street at the Schoolhouse Brewery. (We'll be going back to check them out in the future.) My friend had a Wayfarers Hellene Blonde Ale.
Next came Deep Fried Pickles with a Spicy Mayo dip and Scallops with a Maple-Bacon sauce...delicious! For the main it was Fish and Chips for me and my friend had a grilled Cheese and Mushroom Melt with parmesan dusted fries and a garlic dip.
Now we couldn't leave without at least hearing about the desert menu. Yup, we were sucked in by the Turtle Cheesecake and the fresh-from-the-oven Bread Pudding with Blueberries and Caramel Drizzle.
On the way home we detoured to the Kingsport Look-Off. There's a fantastic view from up there of the start of the Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy. As a bonus we found a drive-in theatre and have made plans to go see F9 next weekend. It's been a VERY long time since I was last at a drive-in.

Had pancakes. Didn't take a pic as I didn't want to disturb the other patrons.

When I was staying in Vancouver, Washington for a few months, I really wanted to drive up to Vancouver, British Colombia. In the city they have a restuarant that serves good Poutine called "Fritz". Wanted to park my car with California plates saying "Fritz" in front of the restaurant named "Fritz". Would have been a cool picture.

Unfortunately thanks to COVID Americans aren't allowed in Canada without "a valid reason" for the time being. I wish the border agents thought my reason was "valid" enough....

Awesome thread!

I'll play.... Even though I wish I lived somewhere that wasn't so flat.

Took a trip with some friends last year to Galena, IL. Great roads for it being the crappy midwest. Ended up eating at Durty Gurt's - was decent.

If you stare long enough you may notice a C7 vette trying to blend in...
