*** Caveats:
- I installed a Stoptech BBK since running the same track with the RSRR
- A lot of the time can be attributed to just learning the track and seat time. The RSRR day was 8 months ago and I drove a lot this year.
- My recent day on the FZs was 70* weather vs the 100* weather with the RSRR.

I ran NT01s on different tracks a few years back so I don't have any strong data points but I will be going FZ>NT01 from now on if I'm not doing time trial stuff where I'm forced to run 200tread tires.
Were these the 265/35/18's? If those are similar in grip to the 275/35/18 NT01's, then the 285/30/18's should be even better provided they would fit. Hmmm....
Correct, staggered 255/35/18 & 265/35/18

I'm still trying to decide between RS-RRs and FZ-201s. First world problems

Edit: One of the posters claims that RS-RRs grease. That's a no go for me, so I'm going to order the FZs.

I got a set of Hankook slicks last weekend, and I'm gonna try to get a set of Pirelli slicks at an upcoming race at COTA. Comparing the Hankooks and Federals (and possibly Pirelli) to NT01s should be interesting, if I don't manage to kill myself using the slicks.

I am running the Federal 595 RS-RRRRRRRRRR on my e30, they do run pretty wide for their size, and are very grippy. i know that doesn't help in this situation, but i was pleasantly surprised...

Well, they give warning in the sense that you can feel is happening before it happens - if your car control and sense of slip through your body is good enough you can catch them. If you are relying on audible warning, yeah, they don't telegraph sliding that way.

Just a heads up, I plan on distributing the FZ201s in NorCal for 2018 and the pricing will be SUPER cheap with free shipping to your door. Federal is weirdly strict about who they let distribute their Motorsport brand of tires (not the RSRR) So I'm pretty excited to be able to bring these locally to the NorCal guys, expect prcicing in the $150ish range for 275s.

Raise your hand if you might be interested, trying to gauge demand

Do they even make a 275/35/18? The website I saw lists 265/35 and 280/30.

Whoops my mistake; you're correct and pricing shouldn't vary much for those two.

I may be interested but looking to get a set soon. Any chance you'll have them available soon?

How wide can one go with a stock zcp e92 m3 with an 18x10 wheel? Would a fz201 285/30/18 or 265/35/17 fit better?

Are these street legal?

The 285 runs closer to a 295 or 305 - my track car is an e82 and my E90 is my DD so I've never tried anything too aggressive on that car.

I think the 285 would be a better fit but might cause rubbing?

I should be able to get 285s right now but I think the 265s are on back order from Federal now

I received my FZ-201s yesterday. The 265/35/18s are slightly narrower than 275/35 NT01s. They are the medium compound, 100TW. I have to go through a set of NT01s before I can mount the Federals. Can take pictures comparing width of Federals and Nittos if anyone is interested.

I have some practice with tires that don’t give audible feedback, so hopefully I’ll be fine.

Damn was hoping the 265 were the lower treadware rating. Depends on the size right?

According to their website, they do make the 265 in the soft compound.

Oh that's good to hear. I huess you just have to pick which one you want. Strange that they call them the same tire. I guess TDs are like that too?

Would you also be a distributor for RS-RR?

I ran these last few times out at Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow and was pleasantly surprised at how good they were on my E46.

I can get those at pretty cheap prices as well, especially if we all jump in and order the same size. I'm guessing 275/35/18 would be our best bet.

Also, to preface, this venture will net me very little financial gain - possibly a set of tires here and there... I too was just pleasantly surprised by their performance in my ~3k lbs car and was tired (no pun intended) of spending $3k a year on tires.

I'm meeting up with my Federal contact at the track this weekend and will have more info on pricing etc.
