I daily all my previous M's (e46,z4 and now on e93). I realized that the money you spend on owning M cars only make sense if you daily drive her. Just maintain her and to keep it on top shape. Follow the forums if you can DIY or find a reputable indy shop. Ultimate driving machine is meant to be driven !!!

Don't blame anyone at all for daily driving their e9x m3 but i do not. I have 2 kids, and bought an MDX for daily driving duties. It's WAY quieter, roomier and 10x more comfortable.

Plus to be honest I feel like running errands in my car is a waste of the cars life. I get way more enjoyment taking her out when I get to be myself without the family and when its not running around the corner to get groceries.

Curious if this would be a poll how many of us around the age of 40 would prefer not to DD this car opposed to people in their 20's, or early 30's.

I'm 40 and I agree. Hence why I want to pick up a daily.

My daily is a Civic hatchback. 40mpg and decent enough power for commuting, has apple Carplay and the fancy auto sensing stuff for longer trips.

I also needed a fancy license plate for the Civic

It’s been my DD since I took delivery in Oct 2010 and I’ll be 56 in December. The boys are now 19 and 18, 6’ 4” and 6’ 2” respectively so we don’t use it much anymore as a family car. Have a Mercedes SUV for that...

I did for about 3 years, then picked up a '14 A4 to handle the mundane and increasing driving demands. Recently sold it and kept my wife's pretty well-loaded '16 535 luxury line when she got her new 540.. To chime in on a previous question, I'm about to hit 50 so I'm starting to appreciate a little more comfort. I also have to take 8-10 pretty long road trips a year, and an e92 M3 isn't a great highway cruiser.

I am 54 and also starting to think about more comfort. My 08 E90 M3 has been my comfy cruiser year round beater for 8 years and my fun car has been my turbo E36 M3.

For me, the more comfortable car would have to be faster than the E90 M3 and still handle well. And I think I would want AWD since I drive year round in NH. And an auto or DCT for seamless power and quicker shifting—they work great with turbos. Maybe a used E63 AMG BiTurbo sedan or wagon, used Audi RS7, or if I wait a couple more years a used version of the new M5. Something like the panAmerica turbo is too exotic for my style, although I think that wagon version is cool.

I thought about a used X5M, but might get one of those for my wife instead. She has an 08 E61 535xi now, which is tolerable with a JB4.

Looks hawt, love the paint. The car is waaaay too comfortable, quiet when stock and engine too linear and responsive to not daily drive it. If only it were better on gas.

I have a 128i for short commuting, city driving and city errands. If I go further for practical reasons especially on the highway its the M3 or nothing for me.

Nice to see all the e46 non-m's as dailys. I am lucky enough to own a '11 e90 328xi 6at as my daily and love it. I would not want to daily my e92 m3 6mt in NY because you are guaranteed a door ding or worse each time you leave your car in a parking lot. Gas is also about $5 a gal right now in 2022 so that would get old fast. I'm halfway past my 30's now and while I'm still a kid at heart I am starting to prefer an auto over manual on my daily. And my 11 year old car has heated seats and a heated steering wheel, even my wife's '22 Highlander doesn't have one. I overpaid during covid era but even then for $11k it's been a great car so far. It's close enough feeling to an M3 yet different enough where when I jump into my M I'm like wow, this is awesome. Hope to keep this one for a long time.

I've got a e92 m3 that was my daily for about two years. Last year I picked up a F90 M5 and it's been my daily since, very rarely drive the M3 now

Daily driver for the last 10 years, just passed 130K miles. Up until several months ago, car was parked in my garage when not being driven (bought a 991.2 Carrera S).

Picture below was taken several years ago. If I recall, had to store some furniture in garage, so car got the boot.

I have a 2013 with 140,000 miles. So obviously I've gone through long stretches of driving it daily, right through the winter (on summer tires, nonetheless), and have taken several long trips in my E93. Love this car. Never selling it.

My new motto is: "Life's too short to daily an appliance."

So from now on, all my cars will be "fun" cars that I love driving. When I need an "appliance" to haul extra people or stuff (or to make it through a bad winter storm), I'll just rent one from Turo, borrow one from a family or friend, or I'll take Uber/Lyft. Problem solved.

I would love to daily drive mine but the dct pressure filter o-ring decided it likes transmission fluid on the outside of the case better than inside. She marks her territory with a 1-2 tablespoon puddle when I start up. Also, the Subaru is for work and winter driving.

So I posted that in 2019. I passed that car down to my stepson about 2 years ago. It is at 235k miles and still going strong.

Call me crazy, but since then I have been daily driving an e60 M5 V10. What better way to enjoy my commute (yes, I did the R/B's and Vanos line)! The M3 is still just a weekend toy. When snow hits the ground I just drive my wife's X5 for a couple days.

Apparently I can't get enough of the high power german v8's, so my daily is a cls 63 amg. It's a nice balance to the m3.

Daily driving an e60 M5 V10??????????????

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about!

Cars are easily replaced, so treat them like disposable objects. Drive the hec out of them, enjoy the hec out of them, and then just get another one. For car enthusiasts, those with the most smiles/mile wins.

Lots of over extended opinions in here. I think how someone else drives their car is up to them but I understand the point of a forum as well. I saw speculation on age relevant to DD behavior and it reminded me of throwing darts in a dark room that may not contain a dart board at all. I don’t think every M3 driver fits in a similar box other than the desire for performance & style. The big question I didn’t see is “why wouldn’t you DD your M3?”. I suppose that question would yield panic and worry in most responses. I’m a 2nd owner and I drive this thing as much as I can. 25,XXX miles up to 244,XXX. If you pay attention to the car and get your hands a little dirty every now and then it can go pretty far. I would love to see more E92 M3’s on the road with me but I recon the worriers and dooms day natured folks that make up the majority of this forum have relegated their buetiful cars to a slow death in an unused garage.
