Good Media players

hey,i've been looking around for a decent media player,its just basically to watch movies and weekly shows,anything that supports AVI,WMV,DivX,etc playback,was taking a look at this one cause i have a wireless network in my house and it would be easy instead of continue disconnecting it and having to bring it to the pc,load up more stuff and then put it back,but if you guys know of anything better please let me know:

VLC...I got it a few months ago...seems to play just about anything.

^sorry,was speaking about the hardware ones to hook up to tv's,not software

edit: no idea....thought you were talkin media player on pc

that looks good tho.....as long as it can upconvert to hd...good in my eyes

It depends on what you want to spend. The best systems are full fledged computers in your living room with a few TB of storage and HD tuner cards with DVR software and high-end multi-device remote controls and such. Those will run you a few thousand. The cheap solution is an Xbox 360 with Windows Media Extender or if you're smart a cheap linux box frontend for MythTV or similar.
