At least with the US version of the S85 in the M5/M6, the charcoal filter in the air box was there to filter vapor escaping into the air through the intake after the engine was shut off. There is no charcoal filter in the Euro S85. For the folks that have Euro S65s, did BMW combine the charcoal layer in your filter or is it only in the US version?

Thanks ChinoOrtega, I'll have to come up with an alternative as well. I'm thinking I might try to modify a plastic sleeve to put over the rod.

I would like to confirm that Euro cars have the shorter rod and you need to make a small modification (using the part from the old stock filter) to make the AFE filter fit.

Thanks for confirming, that's good news that these work on the Euro cars with the stock part. Do you have a picture of this particular installation? It may help some other members with euro cars.

Good catch, BMW does list a different part number for the euro M3s:

13727838804 - euro M3
13727838805 - US M3
