Has anyone ever heard of this? Is it possible to get a lease on a demo?

I'd like to get into an M car for the lowest possible payments. i have an e46 m3 and would like to take the value of this, + id have to ad 4k or so.

Thanks,

Peter

My 2008 was a leased demo which only had 30 miles on it. They even offered additional warranty. I think it was an extra 3 months.

Demos are basically the same as a new car. A dealer can demo a car for up to a certain mileage and still sell the car a new car but with a lower price. So in a nut shell if you are able to buy a demo do it! not only are you getting the car at a lower price then a new one but you get to take advantage of all the perks of buying a new car such as incentive and finance rates.

^^^ actually i have to correct myself bc not "all" demo are able to take advantage of new car incentives and programs. its based on the classification of the demo.

You're right. The extension of the warranty is usually 3 months or 5k miles, whichever comes first

Is it possible to order a brand new car, then have your ordering dealership "demo" the car for a certain period of time? Meaning the deal is basically closed but they dealer holds the car a little longer to get use of it for other customers?

Sorry, I don't agree with that notion!

Unless I am saving like 10%-12% off a new car's price or some additional perks are being thrown in...because too be honest most times dealer's will lower it by a couple of grand

I don't think a few grand is worth over versus going new especially if you are spending 80,000-100,000 in the first place.

I would rather order mine to my preferences and wait for it, then save 3,000 on a 80,000 car

^^right on everyone is different, some demo's will be better deals then others. There is not a set amount of discount that a demo will be. Some demo's can be depreciated 10 to 15k depends on model mileage etc.. So i can see your point for 2k to 3k your better off getting a new car however some demos are great deals that you wouldn't want to pass up. At the end of the day every buyer is different.

No I'm not kidding. A guy on M3forum did this. It sounds completely shady but he claims to have gotten a purchase discount from doing so.

Yes, you can save some money on a demo, but good luck finding one.

The local (military sales) dealer in Germany does not routinely go on test drives with the customer. Granted they tend to hold onto demos for a few months and a few thousand miles, but I would shy away from them, at least over here.

I drove the same demo E93 twice and would not have bought it the based upon what I did to it in two relatively short test drives. I can only imagine what those that came before and after me did to it.

I guess it all depends on the engagement of the dealer in reigning in their test drives.
