BMW M3 Owners! I need your help

Hey guys, I need some advice/opinions. I have owned a BMW 335i for about 9months now. Yes i know its not an M3 but... anyway let me get started. My parents were getting me a car for my 18th birthday and they surprized me with this beautiful vehicle! I mean its GORGEOUS. But every 335i owners dream is to own an M3 (well at least thats my dream haha). My dad leased this vehicle for me. Its a 3 year lease 36 months with payments at $895 USD a month (the reason it was so much was because I was trading in my old leased vehicle and the payments were rolled over. Not to mention this one is fully loaded with nav, M sport package, 19 inch M rims, Rear diffuser, the works.) I have performed the AA ECU Reflash and my car has an increase of 70 hp (probably 45-50bhp after loss of power). I test drove the new 2011 E90 M3 with the DCT black.... it was INCREDIBLE. Ive been wanting an M3 for the longest time. As of right now, I cannot financially support driving the M3 of my dreams. I am paying partial payments on my car while my father agreed to give me a hand. Anyway ive had my car now for about 9 months and i LOVE it. But its not an M3 I am very indifferent about keeping my car after the 27 months are up so I can put some more performance parts but like i previously said; no matter how much money I spend on my car; how fast my car can get in a straight line, IT WILL NEVER BE AN M3. So I wanna know what the people on the forums think! I have been thinking about either waiting two more years till my lease is up and then see if I can get the M3 OR keeping my current vehicle. I know there are many previous 335 owners who now are part of the M club and they can share their experiences/opinions here. I really appreciate the help and I cant wait to one day own my very own M3. BTW my dream M3 is 2011 E90 AW/Fox novillo, fully loaded, with DCT 19 inch rims and all the dings and whisles. Anyway tell me what you think. Thanks

Umm.....I think you answered your own question.

Getting an education should be your 1st priority.

+1 It's just a car.

The 335i is a great car ... don't lose sight of the fact that you've got an awesome ride and no matter what car you drive there will ALWAYS be a better car out there.

Once you've got your education and have some free cash coming in ... then go for it.

Just my 2 cents

No disrespect intended, BMWE92335i, but you're still too young to appreciate the fine art of carefully planned and self-manipulated delayed gratification... especially considering that your current set of wheels trumps that of most of those lurking on the board (mine included), patiently waiting their turn at M Club membership.

I suspect that most of the members here would have greater sympathy for your "plight" if the time that you'd spent "wanting an M3 forever" was two decades rather than two years.

That being said, I agree with the other replies: you already know the answer to your own question... and in honor of your parents: save your money for something more important than a hunk of metal. OK, so yeah, it's an awesome piece of metal...

There is something to be said for having a dream, and working hard and saving diligently to obtain it. Enjoy the awesome ride you already have, and every time you pass up another latte or Big Mac to put a few more dollars in your savings, you'll know why you're doing it.

My $0.02.

Well said. OP may not have been wanting this answer but its the truth. Enjoy your 335 that is better than 99% of the rest of the cars being driven in college.

i waited 20 years to buy a m3. it has been a nice wait.

if you're a trust-fund kid then go for it. otherwise, like i said before, just enjoy the 335i till you're graduated.

I was in a similar position at your age and I went with the cheaper (safer) alternative - G35. Just wait until you're financially responsible (without parental assistance), save up, and go for what you want

You're lucky to have your parents helping you out - wait out the lease and you'll be much happier later when you get the M.

Go for the education and save your money to get into your next car in the right way.
