EVO X vs MOD 135i vs 335i

I CANT DECIDE!

I cant afford a GTR yet...so i can throw that out the window. I love the fact that the bimmers are a lil more classy, But i cant get over the fact that the EVO X is going to be a great performer right out of the box...

I know there are some previous evo owners on this forum...Shiv i think you are one also....are you all going to look at the new evo?

plus i dunno if the evo has the same pu**y factor either

just looking for opinions...flame me if you want MUTHA FO's

You just have to figure out what you want. Are you going to be tracking this car or is it a daily driver? Is budget an issue? If you want the perfect balance of looks and performance and price isn't an issue, the 335 is a no brainer. It's all a matter of preference though. I don't like the looks of the 135 but if you do, the price is nice!! I'm sure the EVO X would be a very fun car to drive around too!!

As far as the pud factor, 3 series is where it's at!!

The mitsu will never have the refinement that BMW's have, nor the good looks.

What the mitsu does have is a big aftermarket. If you are looking to do big mods, buy the mitsu. Otherwise you're much better off in any BMW.

i considered these three cars recently. i came to the conclusion that i will be getting the 335i. i can't get over the rear of the 135i and i don't want the four doors, awd, and four cylinder of the evo.

Based on what I have seen, the 135i will clearly outperform the Evo X stock out of the box, I am talking about pure acceleration..

My lady wants her Evo back and we have the same dilema, she wants a Evo X or a 135. They will be both in the same price range but definately the 135i will have more to offer.

I'd say just wait a few more months(about 2-3 months) and the Evo X should be released. By the way, yes, it is a tough decision.

Tough call. Buy both is a good way to go. I think I'm going to keep my EVO9 after I buy the 135i. The thing is a 500-600whp EVO is a monster and has the traction to make use of the power, so you got to have one. And the flat torque curve of a 10:1 3.0l 500-600whp 135i would be just too much fun, so you got to have one of those too.

I miss my 06 Evo BR350 IX SN #005 everyday, that is until i get in my 335i coupe,6MT. They are two completely different cars that cannot be compared. The Evo is one of the best all around RAW performance cars around. But turning 50 my style in cars changed a bit,i just wanted some style and refinement in my performance instead of the pure RAW performance of the Evo.I wish i could have kept the Evo and still purchased the BMW,but my bank account couldnt handle both. I love my 335,but i will never make a negative comment about the Evo, of which i had two of. An 03 8 bought new and modded to 350whp which i traded in for the 06 BR350 IX.

I'm in the same boat. Had an VIII, got an IX, got the 335i. Love this car, miss those too.

To the original poster, the Evo X is an unknown quantity right now. You're going to have to wait until its out a few months and the aftermarket gets on it before a clear decision can be made. Its sure has some big shoes to fill in the performance game, and they have definitely upped the refinement somewhat.

I'm going to enjoy what I have at least another year, maybe roll the whole 3 year lease out, then see what will fit me best to purchase, not lease this time.

The new evo has an aluminum block engine, which doesn't allow for the same tuneage that evos are known for. Go with the bmw hands down. as for between the 1 and 3 series that's your call brotha.

After I pay my 335 off, I'm probably going to buy a Evo 8 or 9. With the X coming out, the prices for those will drop and make it easy on my wallet. lol.

Question for previous evo owners. How much does it cost to get an Evo to 500whp? I am more than likely not going to ever change the turbos on my 335, cars too damn expensive, so my play toy will be a Evo

With the EVO, you want a 9. It has MIVEC on the exhaust cam and a few other little things that make it the best EVO so far. The stock motor will make 500awhp on race gas with a turbo kit, intercooler, exhaust, complete fuel system, cams, and ether a hell of a good ECU reflash or an EMS. That's well under $10k.

Wow thanks for the info man. I was wondering what the differences between the two were. I was looking on Ebay at some and they are very affordable right now. Probably always were, just never checked.

For under $10k and for the performance, I dont understand why you Evo guys got rid of the car in the first place. Why not keep it? I guess insurance is hella high.

You can get 500whp out of an Evo IX for well under 10k.I,m 50 with no tickets or accidents and was paying 880 a year with blanket coverage,100-300k on my 06 IX.The reason i sold it for the 335i coupe was because turning 50 my taste in cars just changed a bit. I wanted some style, refinement, etc. with my performance and the 335i coupe w/sport pack,6MT fit the bill. It was just time for me and i made the move. But as i have stated in previuos posts that i miss the raw performance of my Evo,s. I had an 03 bought new and modded to 350whp,traded it in for an 06 BR350 IX,and then sold it for the BMW.I really wish that i had the money to keep the IX and still buy the 335.

Mivec on the IX is the electronically adjustable intake cam gear, not the exhaust cam.

Under 10k he meant mods, not the price of the car. Maybe you're a lot more well off than me, but house payment, wife's car, my car, daycare... I sure can't afford two cars for myself and insure them both. I miss my Evo everyday.

i had an evo 9 too, reflash and exhaust and it makes about 305awhp, can eek out a 3.9sec 0-60 in that form, low 12's in the 1/4.

evo X has been putting down slower numbers probably due to its weight, it's actually a new motor, not a 4g63 anymore. i think mitsu's version of the "smg" is supposed to be really good if that's what you're into.

stock vs. stock the 135i will put down better #'s than the Evo X

How's the lag on the Evo 8 or 9? If you were to upgrade to a bigger turbo, which one would be the best to go after?

Yeah, the new Evo engine has a lot of unknowns tuning wise. It will be very difficult to beat the tuning ability of the 4G63. The new block is aluminum with open deck.
