Ticket for talking on the cell phone.

Guys, I need your help. I got a ticket for talking on the phone while driving in new jersey. First, are there points to the this ticket? I don't mind paying the fine, but I don't want insurance to go up.

Second of all, the office put beige as the color of my car. But it's BLACK. My name, address, vehicle type and license plate is correct. Can I get this ticket dismissed based on wrong color? I read somewhere everything has to match up.

As always, I appreciate your input. I know, I know, I should get blue tooth.

Take it for what it's worth but Google search shows $100 fine, no points in Jersey for use of a handheld cell phone while driving...

Edit: Here's the link...

It is not the act of holding the phone, but rather the lapse in concentration of "being on the phone" So if you talk with bluetooth it is ok which almost every car now has (btw why were you not using bloothooth anyway?)

i have no excuse. i usually use a wired headphone. in the car, i'm gonna have to speakerphone now... the cop was nice, told me to use bluetooth.

You are joking right? Ever seen someone turn, phone in hand? Nah, cant do that blinker thing, cant you see I have one hand full? How is your peripheral on your phone hand side? Good? Its terrifying being next to some yoyo who is chatting it up on his phone next to me in traffic. All I can see is the back of his hand covering part of his face, yapping away. And yes, its ALSO the lack of concentration. Whats really scary is all the car manufacturers adding things like Facebook to cars. WTF?

Absolutely. You f***ed up man, and should be happy you didn't cause an accident. Take it like a man, pay it, and don't do it again.

Was also going to say to learn how to pair your freaking phone, but see you drive an old Pathfinder (no in-car bluetooth). Wrong forum for sympathy .

Ha! Not looking for sympathy. Just looking for any experiences getting a ticket with wrong information on it. I found on one lawyer's website that if they have the wrong description of the vehicle, it's grounds for dismisal of the ticket. I know i f'd up. I can pay, but the officer made a mistake. Just a means of making revenue for the town. I rather spend the money on a new golf club.

Im going to court to plead my case. This is the first time i got such a ticket. I dont like bluetooth. I will use a wired earphone from now on. Will post result after courtdate. It pays to pay attention to details. That's all i'm saying.

You are going to court for 100 dollars and no impact to insurance? Really? And you admit to the offense. Yes please consume more tax payer dollars.

You don't know me. You don't know that I pay my taxes on top of property tax in the town that I got this ticket. So, it's my tax dollar working for me. And in this country, there is due process. Everyone charged has a right to a hearing before judgment. Be my guest to pay your ticket. Most people know that if you hire a lawyer or go to court yourself, you can plea down for a reduced charge and/or fine. Furthermore, I posted so that others can learn from me. I never said that I was innocent. Did anyone see that video about talking to the cops? NEVER talk to the cops even if you ARE innocent.

BTW, it's $130 dollars, learn to read before you open your mouth. $30 difference may not mean much to you, but it does for me.

Use ur bluetooth or a wired headphone and save urself a lot of headaches and be safe.dont listen to idiots that say its a stupid law and etc.
This stupid law was put in place to protect lives and make sure people are payin attention and focused behind the wheel.
People who consider this as a stupid law got no business driving a car, they should walk or take the bus .

If you do have blutooth in your car, just take the owners manual as a proof and ask the judge to kindley dismiss the ticket since you didnt know how to connect your phone via bluetooth and most likely you are free to go.Good Luck man !

Man, I guess he doesn't know the penalties as well as he should. I just ordered bluetooth on Amazon. Welcome me to the 21st century! Although, when I get my m, I doubt I'll have time to fumble around with a phone. I'll be too busy enjoying the m. No distractions, leave me a message!

I have to agree with what Wall$treet said above. If you're talking, bluetooth or otherwise, you aren't paying attention to the road.
