UNDER 2.300 RPM PLUCKING with full throttle

Hi guys. I have a problem with my M3 Dct 2009. Anytime, under 2.300 rpm, when I bottom the throttle pedal, car wouldn't go. Its pluck, choke...simply doesn't work well. Its somehow cutting the power. I have Alpine motorsport ecu modified, I was asked Alex, he dont have idea. I tried all the possible combinations of the modes. Nothing help. Once speed up slowly, no problem. Over 2.300 rpm all perfect. Coils, spark plugs, throttle actuators, all new. Still no diferrent. Any idea please?

No. I could only guess that maybe it is electrical like battery or alternator or maybe the engine ground wire under the car on the drivers side between the oil pan and frame rail. The ground is easy - give it a tug. Mine was bad and broke in the middle when I pulled on it. For the battery or alternator, you could read live voltage below 2300 rpm and compare that to voltage at higher rpm. Easy tests - no need to buy anything.

Sounds like maybe you are trying to floor it in a high gear without downshifting possibly? Makes sense it would bog at low speed if you dont downshift.

I've never done it in manual mode but the thread below indicates that downshift paddle has to be clicked for the gearbox to downshift after flooring the throttle, it will not automatically shift down to the best available gear as part of the "kick down" function.

Obviously, it should downshift in auto. My thinking is he isnt pulling the downshift lever while in manual mode and bogging the engine or his flat out doesnt function.

I was experiencing the same kind of behavior with my M3 where it stuttered and hesitated at low RPM during full throttle. I was able to solve my problem with new OEM spark plugs.

Maybe send this guy a PM to ask more about his problem and the solution:

https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1509401

Or this

https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=772584

https://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/threa...se-help.66440/

Also, some people have said they experience detonation at low rpm in an upper gear. That would pull timing and drop power. You could try better fuel to see if it makes a difference.

Did it have this problem all the while? What was the mod you did just before this problem started?

actually cannot say. because for example when I was on the way to drag race, in some intersections was working normally and I was started up like a bullet from the intersection. I have alpine motorsport mod, catless, h-pipe, straight flow exhaust. spark plugs new, throttle actuators done, coils new etc. let's say once from 20 times, it somehow work normally. really dont know. diagnostic tool no mistakes at all.

The guys in this thread seem to be experiencing something similar - bad knock under 3500 rpm, especially in areas with bad fuel. All are running Alpine tune.

https://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1532390

Sounds like the Alpine tune may be super aggressive. Have you tried pouring in a bottle of octane booster and see if that helps?

Well if you're in Thailand maybe get a flex fuel kit and run an E85 tune? Even more power.

it can be the way. Alex from Alpine motorsport was offered me e85 software, but I wouldn't be worry about, as not every gas station have. Please could you give me more informations about that kit? maibe the link? thank you.

There are other E85 flex fuel kits that are universal to fit any car and that are cheaper. It is simply a fuel sensor you put in the fuel line to determine the percentage of ethanol. The injectors are then scaled to provide the correct amount of E85 fuel. You need a greater quantity than you do for gasoline.

Some people have experimented with just adding 3 gallons of E85 to a mostly full tank of gasoline. No flex fuel kit needed. Try that. Try 2-3 gallons of E85 and 13-14 gallons of gas.

If you read further into the thread you have quoted you will see the problem was not knock. Even in the event of bad fuel the car will still pull timing with the motor tune.

In the case of the OP here he can rule out the tune by just simply flashing back to stock and see if he still has the problem.
