During this time I've driven on several poorly maintained roads, with plently of broken surfaces, expansion joints, etc and no noise from the brakes that I'm aware of. I've performed the running-in actions too as per the instructions.
Update - the pads do rattle a little but it doesn't bother me much at all and is something that I willing to put up with for the extra performance on offer.

I've run a few iterations of the 380 GT kit, it's not even a close comparison. AP crushes it.

Benefits over the 380GT BBK:
  1. Significant reduction of un-sprung weight!!!
  2. Higher rotor vane count
  3. Significant reduction of time and effort to swap pads
  4. There are no dust boots to have to "maintain"
  5. no paint-chipped calipers to contend with
  6. Significant increase in caliper clearance inside wheel barrel (more wheel options)
  7. Unwavering consistency on track (using AP w DS1.11's vs. 380GT w multiple pad configs.)
  8. Did I mention light weight?!!

This list goes on and on...Jeff and others can probably add to this.
Watch the videos above, they do a great job of explaining all of the details.

Thanks for the synopsis! All of the above are true. I think the BBK video #2 that looks at the details of our kit really explores all the advantages of our kits. Pretty much everything I say in that video about the OEM caliper I'm using as an example holds true for the calipers in a standard Brembo GT big brake kit.

This one:

I also did a written comparison to StopTech a while back...I'll dig it up. Everything in that post holds true vs. Brembo Gran Turismo kits as well. Thanks.

Hey Jeff I just wanted to check in to see where we were at with the front anti-rattle clips? You mentioned they are under development about 2 months ago. Just wondering on an ETA?

Hey do the 372x34 kits with the CP9660 caliper clear the bimmerworld TA16 18" wheels?

How about with the CP9668 caliper?

This would be for a track only e92m3

Thanks

We unfortunately don't know. You'd have to use our wheel fitment templates to confirm. Both of our 372mm kits do fit in just about all 18" wheel barrels. We used that size of disc intentionally for that reason. It will just depend on spoke clearance on that particular design.

That said, those wheels were implicitly designed with brake caliper clearance, so I'm guessing you'll be okay. There's no guarantee though, and you always have to verify with the template. Or have the wheel seller supply you with a wheel template to check against our brake template.

Below are a couple videos from last weekend of our front four piston e46 M3 kit and our front six piston e46 M3 kit / rear e46 M3 caliper kits in action at VIR. Our current kits work very, very well!

Below is a vid of our standard CP5060/355mm E92 M3 front kit at VIR. You can read more details about these customers and see more pics of their cars on our blog.

Below is another video I thought I'd share of an e92 M3 equipped with our front Essex/AP Racing CP5060/355mm front BBK ripping around Spa Francorchamps. Enjoy.

beautiful.

i do have a question though- a friend of mine has this rear kit, but his rotor hat is completely round. the rotor hats in the above pics have cutouts to where the rotor meets the hat. was one of them an early design? i like the way they look in the above pics.

AP Racing produce anti-rattles clips for the rear calipers!!!! Jeff has some in stock now.

I've ordered some from my local supplier in England.

The small noise from the rear was the only criticism I have for the complete kit and even then, it was a very minor one.

Having run the full F&R kit for over 6 month now, paired with Ferodo DS2500 pads and I cannot praise the performance and feel enough.

Ant Man, do you drive your car daily? If so how are the AP brakes for daily driving in the rain and cool weather? Also, do those Ferodo 2500's squeal in cold weather city driving?
Thanks,
Dreamer

I don't drive my car daily and have not used the brakes in the wet. Though given I wash the car with water, I cannot see driving in the rain being a problem. I have not and never will, drive my car on salty roads as it could harm the lovely motorsport finish of the calipers.

I can confirm the DS2500 pads (that were recommended for my needs) are excellent at cold temps (2 C) and also great at handling multiple stops to zero (activating ABS) from high speed.

There is no squeal once you've transferred some pad material to the discs. Occasionally there is a very faint squeal when coming to a stop and very low speeds. I'm not sure of whether this is just when its very cold or when the brakes have not been used much. After one moderately firm application of the brakes, the noise stops. You may not even notice the initial noise.

The only drawback of the Ferodo DS2500 pads is the increase in brake dust compared to OEM. It turns my black wheels a browner colour fairly quickly.

For my needs, I would not hesitate to run DS2500 pads again.

Thanks for the info Ant Man. I try to stay off the road when it is salted but on the west coast of Canada there is plenty of rain and with that comes grime on the roads so I'm probably best off with a BBK brand that is a little more "road" oriented and has the dust boots, etc.

Having visited Vancouver and some other parts of BC, it is a stunning place to live.

Rain should be fine as races are held in the wet but you could always check with Jeff or Essex - they may have alternative suggestions too. It would be a shame to miss out as the engineering of the kit, is something to behold.

Any update on this? Can the Essex kit be used in the rain without issue?

Absolutely! Rain has no more of a detrimental impact on our brake system than it does on any other system. AP Racing calipers have won countless races in rally. They drive them through rain, mud, snow, slush, ice, etc.

Made me think of some pics a customer sent me a few years ago that are up on our blog...the brakes are definitely wet!

I honestly don't know. Seeing as I'm the guy who makes that decision, I probably should figure it out. We've been so crazy busy that we haven't really had time to think about holiday sales, etc. I guess it's about that time though, since I started seeing 'pre-Black Friday' sales on Halloween! Stay tuned...
