No and yes, if your on a empty rode with no car for miles chances are you won't get a alert unless the cop keeps his radar on. But say your on a semi busy highway you'll get some alerts way before you see the cops (1 to 5 miles). I always use a radar detector as a second set of eyes otherwise there is to much risk.

I've gotten notice in excess of 5 miles, plenty of time, you just have to get used to the patterns/noises

Hann from Song's Tint Masters is confident that the 9500ci product he installs has saved him at least 5 times from laser. So I wouldn't say a lucky reflection is the only thing that can save you. Also I heard theres this product called Veil Sheild or something along those lines that deflects laser.

However for instant on radar... If you are traveling on a semi busy road, it will detect the instant on radar signature meant for the vehicle ahead. The V1 will just beep for a brief moment then shut off.

V1 does not give you permission to drive 120 everywhere. Therefore you still have to watch your a$$ out there. 8 over for a cop is key 12 for cameras.

If u ever get pulled over for speeding, speed up more, then come to an abrupt stop, jump out of the car and throw up or take a big shit.

You can use this to see what cops in your city use.
http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...-8-6-09-a.html I usually get about a mile and a quarter range on the freeway. More then enough time to slow down to the speed limit.... |

All the detector function does is alert you to the use of a radar or laser gun. If you are the only car out there and the gun isn't triggered until he points at you, guess what... The sound you'll hear from the V1, 9500ix, or 9500ci is a "you are about to be pulled over" warning. If you are in traffic and the officer hits a different car or leaves the gun on, then you have a great chance to slow down before he hits you.
You cannot defeat radar, just be alerted to it. It is illegal to jam radar. But, you can, legally, jam laser.
