Shitty vendor

Anyone else been fucked over by Bimmerretrofit? They sold me a bad combox and will not honor it. Am I the only one to experience this? My PNP cable didn't even plug into my factory harnesses. I had to remove them and remove my factory connector for it to plug in. The combox had no firmware so it will not play with the rest of my car nicely.

I had some pretty average customer service but everything they sent me worked at least. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience...

Sorry to hear this happened . If you paid them with PayPal I would recommend you opening a case through PayPal or reporting to your credit card company

I didn't. Glad to hear it worked out for others. The whole thing was shady from the start. Plug didn't fit, then when their coder got to me 2 weeks after I already received the parts......they said me or my dealer ruined the combox. I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen.

Make sure they sent you a BN2000 not a BN2010 if you're still in your E series.

They did. It just never had firmware in it. I've ordered an icom to fix myself. If it's just not flat out broken.

No. Even with an icom and SP Daten 55 the CBX36 will not flash successfully. They shipped me a broken unit that never worked. That's why I started this thread......to warn people about this companies shitty way of doing business. Valerie was a very rude person to deal with. I put my MULF2HI and TCU back in for now. All of my cars ECU's have the most current firmware so there is no excuse for this. I would be interested if anyone's PNP was actually PNP. My cable harness didn't even fit my connectors. In my opinion and experience.......Bimmerretrofit is fraudulent, fake and sells broken equipment.

I purchased their combox retrofit back in November (I believe). The PNP harness took a little bit of finagling to get the connectors from the vehicle to fit, but it worked exactly as advertised. I've been wholly happy with my purchases from them (combox and an RVC). Sorry to hear about the hassle you've had with this item.

Glad it all worked out for ya. What is your production month and year per VIN?

You probably done it already but if you haven't, try contacting Patryk directly. My transaction with them was very good, though I only purchased from them only once

Update to this thread.......so I noticed the part number on the bullshit combox Bimmerretrofit sent me was not the listed part on RealOEM.com per my VIN. I crossed references that with my local dealerships system. The combox that was listed for my VIN on realoem.com and at my dealership was ordered from ecstunning and it worked like a charm. FUCK YOU BIMMERRETROFIT!!!!!! They had my VIN on order and should have sent the right part number. 9257160 didn't work upon receipt from Bimmerretrofit and 9257163 from ECStunning worked as soon as I hooked it up. IDIOTS!

How did you pay? Your CC company should give you some protection/chargeback abilities.

I paid with my Chase card. I started a claim but I only get 120 days from date of charge to reach a result. BIMMERRETROFIT was able to feed Chase bullshit reasons in a format that a layman would think is accurate and truthful. Being that they are not coding/mechanics/car people they bought it hook line and sinker. Well I requested their counter claim and I got it 4 weeks later in the mail. Now Chase is not obligated to help. I'll be trying small claims but they are a Canadian company so this should be fun. I more wanted to make people on this forum aware of this companies business ethics and how they handle claims. I tried politely with BIMMERRETROFIT before contacting Chase. Duechy company to say the least.

Not to get in the middle of any of this, but the part number ending in 160 is the correct part number. The reason why you didn't see it as a cross reference to your VIN is because US vehicles don't get MEDIA versions from the factory, they get the Telematics version. Sounds like the part you received was defective (which I've never seen happen), or there was some sort of flashing/software failure rendering it inoperable. The combox should come with firmware loaded out of the box, it comes from BMW this way. It would need to be coded properly, though.

I appreciate the info. Wonder why they gave me a media PNP cable that didn't fit in the first place? I actually labeled each wire and pulled the pins from the factory harness and put them in a new combox plug I picked up at my dealer. As you know the pins are press and pull. I had to wire for telematic and it worked. Figured this was just a crappy PNP cable as well as the combox but no. I tried the DOA BIMMERRETROFIT one again with my cable and no. Even switched power from pin 2 to 1. No dice. Unit was a shitter from square one. No flashing was necessary for my ECS combox. A little coding but no flashing.

Telematics and media have switched power wires, or you can power both to be safe. As far as the harness not fitting, not sure- ours plug in and work straight away regardless of combox variant. We'll usually power pin 1 from the TCU connector and pin 2 from the MULF connector to make sure all bases are covered.

Yeah I'm aware. I'm on pin 2 currently. The only thing a haven't got going is the connected drive features. I'll have that all figured out soon. Since BIMMERRETROFIT fucked me I've gotten this far on my own. Why stop here, now I'd like to make connected drive and apps work too. I'm learning about the FSC codes to accomplish this. I figured I'd not get snap plate and go for mini usb w/video. I like messing with my cars!

Chase are the worst CC company to deal with in terms of claims. Read about their reviews online. The process is really bad and they are in favor of seller most of the time if seller feed them with anything even if it is not right. If I were you, I would have only used PayPal.
