When I told her I was going to get the new M3, I think I finally broke her She said, "Heath, I am sick and tired of hearing about cars... as long as you don't bankrupt us, I don't give a shit what you do or what you buy" At that point, I knew the war had been won and all would be right in the world again.

We've been together for 14 years and married for about 7. When can I expect to win the war like Heath?

My wife never even looked at this car for over 2 weeks when she finally rode in it.I did learn a while ago that she could tell the difference in the sound of an Italian V twin from a Japanese V4 after 2 months of ownership. The same colour theory did not help out in that case |

My wife is a car nut about as much as I am. She's the one that encouraged me to order the M, and gave me "permission" if I can call it that to keep the 335i too! She's a keeper!

Just amazed when some people are able to roll through so many cars like Duncan and Heath. :P

I read this thread to my wife and her advice to those who are still fighting the war but would rather win it... "bug the shit out of your wife... if you drive her crazy enough she will just give in... just bug shit out of them..." So, there you have it. Bug your wives incessantly until they break.

She was very patient but so sick of me showing her internet photo's and trying to get her to have an opinion about options that I wasn't able to drag her to the dealer in the many months leading up to my order, not once! She loved our time in Munich though, and thought the BMW Museum and The Welt were brilliant. My wife drives a 6spd 2008 GTi and loves european cars!

I've been away for only 3 days and I've sure missed alot of educational reading here. I agree with Heath's wife's advice to "just bug shit out of them"... seemed to work quite nicely over on the West Coast when I was getting ready for my M3 order. However, 5 in 6 years won't fly for me! Sure, makes sense (kind of!) for Duncan, but seriously Heath, you're my hero!

So here is a picture of the car at the Halifax port
I decided to drive by after work tonight (I kind of feel like a stalker ) and after about 20 minutes of looking from the street (there are literally 500-1000 cars there) I found it!! I found 5 M3s... an AW/BLK (non-ZCP), AW/FR (non-ZCP), IB/BLK (non-ZCP), JzB/BLK (ZCP) and mine! I have to say that it was sunny and I was a distance away but the JzB looked really nice. My current AW looks great too though... can't go wrong with either one IMO. Hurry up delivery!!!

Thank you... my bank says that about me too but only because I help to contribute to their quarterly earnings.

Hopefully later this week... there is a process to get cars in and out of the port and Halifax BMW is doing what they can to expedite it. With any luck, it will be out by Wednesday and I will pick it up either Thursday or Friday.
It wasn't skill so much as perseverance! I went to every row of cars and studied them. Security is quite high so I was getting a lot of "attention" even though I was on the street.

Not sure if you heard the details of how this came about, but I was close to ordering a car from the P-car dealer down the road and at the last minute was informed that they were not willing to do an out of province convenience deal. So, not wanting to lose out on the tax credit, I started searching hard for a car. A buddy of mine heard about your car possibly being available and after a few phone calls and a quick trip to HFX, saw your car and...done deal. It happened very fast !! Great car btw, looks like you took very good care of it ! So I'm waiting for your new car to show up, so you can drop off the '10 which I'll be picking up and dropping off my 997 which will be shipped to TO to it's new owner....a little confusing, but true! So let me know if you need help breaking into Autoport to get your car outta there....i've got some heavy duty cable cutters Two last comments: You have a very understanding wife as I do to allow all of this to happen. I want the Akrapovic exhaust back...tell your buyer it was a mistake...I'm sure he'll understand ! BTW, first post for me here...coming over from the dark side of p-cars for a few years. Had an E46 M3 6-7 years ago and loved it. Last edited by force4rmr; 04-26-2011 at 02:19 PM.. Reason: added a pic |

Of interest to me, is this tax credit that you're talking about! I've never heard of a tax credit when buying an M3 or P-car... must be an East Coast thing that we West Coast'ers are funding?!?

You will LOVE the M3. It is an amazing car to drive every day around town and a ton of fun when driven as intended. I have various close friends with 997.1s and R8s and the M3 is not out of place in that group at all... EXCEPT, put it in comfort mode and it is such a civil car to drive. I really, really struggled with the change. First, I love the colour... alpine white is the best M3 colour IMO as it shows the lines very, very well. Second, I am a 6MT guy and the DCT is due to knee issues and NOT preference. I have absolutely babied the car and taken immaculate care of it. Diligently followed the break-in last summer (as hard as that was) and it has been perfect since. It hasn't been in for a single issue... no rattles, nothing. I am SO hoping the new one is as solid. When I was at the port trying to find the new M3, I was walking back to my car and it looked amazing... it actually made me sad that it was going... Great that you are on the boards!!
