ESS SC oil leak?
I was changing my headlights and with the wheel liner off I noticed some oil on the subframe and it looks to be coming from the back of the SC. I forgot to take a picture but I tried to find a picture on the internet that could show where I seen it from. It looks like its from the back of the unit and then dripping down to where i seen it from the wheel well. What should me next steps be? Unmount and check it out?

Kits been on for 10K+ miles I took some more pictures. I think for now my plan is to just clean it up and check in a day or 2 and see if the oil reappears, at least get a gauge how fast it is happening. |

Take off the rubber hose between the SC and the intake manifold. Look inside the manifold and see if you have excess oil in there..

I'm pretty sure I had a bunch of drinks when I made my comment above so, it was was a bit short. Myself and others have reported engine oil getting by the oil separators and getting into the intake. Maybe yours is seeping out..

If you tilted the s/c then you might have actually lost oil, if that's the case it is better to drain and refill with the correct quantity

So yea sorry for dropping this thread for a long while. I had a lot of stuff happened least of which was dealing with a stolen car and all the crap that comes with that. Anyways.. On to the update.
I have had the car down for winter and finally had warm weather to look. Basically what is happening is the intake is not fully seated on the back of the supercharger. there is about a 1/8-1/4 inch gap on one side of the flange. I tried my best to push it the rest of the way on but its not happening. I moved the clamp so its actually around the tube and not on the gap. I think what i am going to have to do it take off the wheel and fender liner, loosen the sc mount to the engine and see if i can get enough play to wiggle the intake tube to fully seat. As to why there's oil there in the first place, best I can guess is that its blow by. I did have a little bit in the plenum like in the post above, i cleaned it for now. |
