Am I crazy to spend 55k on an E92 M3?

It's a manual Lime Rock Park M3 in good condition with about 30k in miles. Is 55k plus tax too much?

I guess with limited edition cars the market value is reflected by what anyone's really willing to pay. How many manual LRP M3's are on the market right now? Does it include any modifications or is it bone stock? Personally I think that price is a little high considering the mileage. I know it's only 30k but I don't think I'd be a buyer at that price. But then again I probably have $55k into my high mileage 08' with all the mods. Money of which I'll only get a fraction of back. So that probably doesn't help you at all! Good luck

The e9x special editions are merely cosmetic packages besides the CRT and GTS. Neither of which we can get our hands on for a reasonable price.
There isn't anything proprietary on a LRP. Find a comparable spec car and evaluate the price difference and see if you want to pay the premium.

Like anything else it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay. If you want it and are comfortable spending the money, go for it!

Agree ^^^. So I would skip it, limerock just isn’t truly special. Limerock prices are artificially high, too, since EAG tries to buy them all to control the market and jack the prices way up. One of the many reasons most seasoned ///M enthusiasts won’t deal with them.

You asked the question so I hope no one takes offense, but Limerock is just a color/option package and not really something special except that you can say...I have a Lime Rock edition. I think even saying you have a ZHP which they made many of carries more impact than a Lime Rock as the ZHP had real performance and trim changes.

So in my humble opinion, I would look at like any other low mileage M3. The fact that it's a manual is a plus.

2 cents.

Depends on what you're looking to do with the car. If it's to be enjoyed, I'd say no. It's not worth that much more than any other clean E92 M3's.

If you're looking at it in terms of resale, then maybe. I personally don't think it's a good idea. Hell you could get a clean E92 M3 and an Z4M Roadster for that money. I don't see how that's worth it.

I'd rather have three 2008's

If you're going to collect it and just drive it a few hundred miles a year and show it etc., not crazy, IMO, I think that's about where a low miles high spec manual special edition is going to bottom out.

But if you're going to drive it, you're nuts

It's all relative! Do you want to pay $20k more than a similar car for Fire Orange paint?

what he said^^^^, you could buy two solid ones for that kind of money. Maybe if it's a late model with less than 5,000 miles, and it's got $30,000 in mods, MAYBE. Even then...

Just wrap a non-LRP in fire orange, and save yourself the money for other mods...

Or just never drive it, and hope it's a good investment.

I know this is an old post but I agree with KevinGS, find a non LRP and then go wrap it in Fire Orange for $3k and take the money you saved and get it supercharged. Now you have something that is rare and worthy of showing at car shows, not to mention at the track.

The reason there are premium prices for certain models is that there are buyers willing to pay a premium for them. Doesn't have to be a forum full of buyers with consensus, just one buyer and one seller finding a mutually agreeable price to make a deal happen for that car. If it is a fire orange LRP edition car that floats your boat, and you've found a nice one, and you feel the price is market reasonable then go buy that car. Enjoy it, take pics, and post here to share your experience. You've earned your money, do what make you happy.

You would be crazy to buy that car. Run the blue book value. The general car buying public could car less what we think a car is worth.

You're going to go spend $55k when it looks like the economy is about to take a downturn. I'm scared to spend any money over the next few years. I make my final payment next month.

You're fairly new on the forum and seem to needs some advice. Don't spend your hard earned money on that. You can pick up a nice e90/92 M3 for significantly less.

A manual limerock is rare and that's a decent price on it. If you like the color I'd pay 55k all day for it. I would not pay that much for a DCT however

I think the closest match to fire orange is 3M Burnt Orange, and having seen it in person, it has some of the worst orange peeling I've seen on any wrap color. It's somewhere between a satin and a full gloss, it just doesn't look 'wet' enough compared to some of the other wrap colors.

I thought about this exact decision a lot because I like the LRP's looks, and decided against it for this reason.

Fortunately Gloss Lemon sting looks pretty good if you're into Phoenix or Austin Yellow.

As do a lot of the blues.

At best, the LRP will hold its value.

You could get a decent one, wrap it, probably buy a set of track rims plus all the bolt-on mods or even a blower.

I had a specific taste when I started searching for my M3 and it took me two years until EAG sourced it. Two years later I can’t replace it for what I paid for it. So yeah, I’m happy I went with EAG. I also believe they thoroughly vet their cars. If they have EXACTLY what you want you’d be unwise not to pay.

EAG has been asking low 50s for their 2011 comp pack stick E90s
Claiming 1 of about 1200 comp pack sedans and about 50% are dct so that leaves the stick to be a rough 1 of 600 cars in america

If you love the car who cares what the price is honestly.
