Help locating a specific bolt

Hey folks.

Noticed some rattling coming from the rear of my E92 M3. After climbing under it, I noticed a rear muffler heat shield bolt is missing. It's the bolt that secures both heat shields where they overlap toward the front of the car.

I've searched high and low to find this thing to no avail. It must have a unique thread as I've tried just about every thread pattern out there.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I do believe that maybe the 8mm black bolt that is very commonly used on the under trays. I'd look at real OEM and try to locate the correct part numbers for the bolt and then type that into ECS's website or FCP Euro. I always order an extra one in case something like this happens down the road.

Unfortunately it's not the same bolt. Tried multiple heat shield bolts. No dice.

So the correct bolt is an M10 coarse thread. That said, these heat shield bolts seat into the plastic tub that holds the emergency compressor, and upon snugging it up, it immediately stripped.

FYI - each one of the highlighted circles in the below tub corresponds with a heat shield bolt:

So I just bought a 1 1/2" M10 stainless bolt from Home Depot, popped a hole through the plastic tub, gave it a healthy slather of silicone to waterproof it, and threw a lock nut on the inside of the trunk. I'd definitely go this route of you ever lose one.

The nut insert is missing. That's why you can't find any bolt that fits. They often pull out with the bolt, especially in rusty cars. The correct repair is to replace the tub. Sometimes (as long as you havent lost it) you can remove the nut insert from the bolt and reinstall it into the tub with 2 part adhesive. kawstik has posted an intermediate repair that also works in a pinch.
