Old car still @ Carmax

Well, they've had my old 06 330xi on the lot for over a month now and have dropped the price $1000 and it's still available.

I wonder how long they'll keep it before sending it to auction or back east for the winter season.

i've been curious about carmax. How was your overall exp.? Pretty easy to deal with? And did you get a fair value when you took it in? I'm thinking of carmaxing it to avoid the headaches of private selling it in the near future and was curious to see what other's thought.

To the post above, it all depends. Yeah sure you can get more money on your own, but you have to weigh the alternative: spending lots of time showing you car to many parties. Many times it's time-wasted. Then you run the risk of someone trying to scam you, and if you're selling a car like ours, or something similar where the price is in the tens of thousands, then it is more convenient to use a place like Carmax.

Add to that the fact that you don't have to worry about the paperwork, and paying off your finance company, since they do all the legwork.

Before I bought my 335, I sold an '06 G35 Coupe 6MT to Carmax. And I have to say that they helped me avoid all the hassle, and paid me reasonably when compared to everything I was going thru before since I had posted my ad on cars.com.

CARMAX = FAIL

I appraised my 06' 650i convertible at carmax for $48,000.00 - I walked out.

2,000 miles later on my car I sold it to LB BMW for $52,500.00

I wouldnt knock Carmax. Sometimes their offers are thousands higher than a dealer will offer

Only costs you a little time and you have a 7 day offer from them

Got 3500 more from them than a dealer was willing to give me on a 4Runner I recently sold them

I sold my 02 RSX at carmax last year. The car was almost paid off and was in pretty good shape, but high mileage. I went to the lot, walked in the door and they asked me what I wanted to do. I said sell and they had a guy looking at my car within minutes.. About 20-30 minutes later, they had a price for me.. they gave me 6k for it as is.. All good with me cuz the acura dealership was only gonna give me 4k..

Although I seen them low ball a bunch of other people there, It wasn't to bad for me cuz I wasn't expecting much anyways...

I was looking on the website to see how much they were going to jack up the price on it. But it never showed up. I called the guy that took care of my deal and he told me that it never seen the lot cuz one of employees bought it..

+1 exactly.

I had my car posted for a week and got exactly 3-inquires on it. Two offered exactly what Carmax offered and another offered less.

Besides my car had over 50,500 miles, so it's very high mileage and out of warrantly.
