Main Bearings

Someone please clear this up for me.
Is the Thrust(Guide) Bearing Green or Violet?
Assuming the matrix (GVVGV) means front to back, therefore the Thrust Bearing would be Violet. Am I correct in my assumption?

The lower shell for the guide bearing for the crankshaft you have pictured should be a violet color marked bearing without a lubrication groove on the bearing seat or BMW part # 11217841615. The BMW repair manual uses the term "guide bearing" instead of thrust bearing. The engraving marks on the crankshaft are in order from front to rear as you suspected, however the marks on the crankshaft are only for the bearing shells placed on the bedplate (crankcase lower section). The bearing shells for the crankcase upper section may be different and marks identifying them can be found engraved near the rear of the block, also in order from front to rear of the engine.
