Takata airbag recall
Are our cars affected with this takata airbag recall?
I know that if we check the list out cars are not on it but I find it hard to understand why US spec cars had the recall and we apparently don't? More and more cars are saying they have the issue now and with all this attention the recall has been getting lately i can't see why they would use different airbags on our AUS delivered cars. I feel like it s a matter of time bmw says our cars have the issue too. What are your thoughts? |

I checked mine today (‘08 E92 M3) on the BMW Aust website. It came up as NOT subject to the recall. But like bosse92m3, I am not entirely comfortable with that given similar US spec cars were apparently recalled.......

Hi,
I have physically checked my BMWs (not recommended DIY for everyone), and I have found the following: My Australian delivered 2012 E92 M3: Driver airbag manufactured by TAKATA. My 2008 E83 X3 (sports pack): Driver airbag manufactured by TAKATA. 2005 E90 320i, (standard, not sports) Not affected, as the driver airbag manufactured by TRW. Apparently early models described as 'ALPHA' are more dangerous than the other TAKATA airbags. I don't think any of these are the 'ALPHA'. It looks like the latest is to replace ALL airbags by TAKATA. Cheers, |

https://blog.caranddriver.com/massiv...cted-vehicles/ The Takata Mexican plant had 6-8 times the acceptable limit of defect explosive propellant devices however whilst the 9 German Takata manufacturing facilities had some defects it was within tolerances. Which facility were your Takata components manufactured? Some of the posts should be removed to stop spreading such inaccuracies. |

So bmw finally recalled them last week as I suspected and now have taken them back off the recall list. They have said that they are effected and will be part of the recall but they are not doing these cars yet as they want to work through the older cars first
