Alleviate wind noise?

So far, my only major complaint about the M3 is the wind noise. I tried using the stereo to drown it out but it just made it worse. Now I'm wondering, will having a OEM exhaust mod or M perf. exhaust solve my problem or just make it worse? The firmer ride quality, low ground clearance, and gas mileage don't bother me in the least; however, all the wind noise starts to get to me after 30 or so minutes on the highway.

Mine is pretty quiet. It was one of the quieter cars I've driven too, especially at 80-85 mph. I'll record video soon maybe of the interior while cruising highway speeds so you can compare.

Strange. I have very little wind noise until I get over 130mph when the wind noise starts to get very bad.

My E92 with both windows rolled all the way up sounds like I'm in the middle of a storm if I drive faster than 60 on the hwy. there is not a day when I try to roll both windows up as I'm driving only to realize that they are both rolled up.

Mine is very quiet. I used to drive with the windows down a lot in my last car but now I can't stand it because the interior is so quiet with the windows up.

Sighhh I would happen to get the bad on out of the litter My most recent rides have been e39 and e60. I wonder if I actually have a problem or I just think I have one because I'm coming from luxury sedans.

I already plan on running plateless, tinting the front windows, and going 20+ over the limit. Don't need to give the CHP another reason to hassle me. I actually believe despite all my infractions I'm one of the safest cars on the road yet I'm the one getting the tickets How is going 100 on an empty straightaway considered reckless, they do this everyday in Germany and the autobahns like 3x safer, prob 7x than LA, OC freeways.

I know what you're talking about. Your' not crazy. It's the weather stripping. I had my windshield replaced by the dealership due to a flaw in the windshield glass. Everything was done OEM, but when I got it back, there was a lot more wind noise from the weather stripping as a result even at low cruising speeds. It is fixable if you know from where it's coming. Get the weather stripping redone and you should be fine.

Forgot to mention, even driving with the windows down it isn't so bad on highway surprisingly. I actually enjoy driving with windows down at highway speeds. So guess it is your weather strip. Good luck getting it taken care of through the dealer.

This just shows why its useless to ask opinions about personal taste in anything regarding "sound" all the same cars and half the people say there is no noise and half say its loud. I say its noiser than most cars.

Clearly some people are deaf and some may have overly sharp hearing. It should not be so bad that it is intolerable though. Maybe your winshield is not sealed right or something. Do you have a sunroof? make sure your cover is pulled closed in the cabin if you do

Take it into the dealer and get a tech to sit inside the car with you or better yet, let him/her drive it. They'll need to replicate the problem but it sounds like a weather strip issue.

No wind noise here and my exhaust is just fine thank you

I am slightly how can your radio not help you out here and why would a louder exhaust calm your nerves ... just saying makes no sense to me at all ...

Did you ask your SA to take it for a spin and then get it fixed? you hear the noise from the windows or the firewall? Did you do some analysis with a passenger in the car to help you out? Is it a leaky window seal? Or do you simply find the road noise to noisy?

I've got the stock exhaust here. The wind noise is incredibly good below around 65 mph. Above 65 MPH it becomes very pronounced and annoying. The aerodynamics of the car are going to be the same for everyone, so some people probably don't notice it. The car certainly does have higher wind noise than the competition at high speed.
