Transmission fluid change n other cost

I have 2012 dct transmission which is leaking from the side n bottom pam. Local shop says around1800$ to flush n change filter and both gasket side n bottom. Is this sound right cost as he will have to drop the transmission to change the side filter, car has 66k miles on it.

I wouldn't bother with the side. It's very likely that it'll leak again if you are going with oem. Bottom pan is diy. Shop advantage is that they may be able to do an actual full flush but I'd think that would need way more fluid than the 9 liter capacity.

ive noticed a subtle weep as many do around the pan/side area but its not enough that I have to add any dct fluid and have just decided to leave it as is and keep an eye till it becomes an issue. Im sure replacing it is will eventually result in another weep....

1800 is outrageous. I am having exactly the same problem but mine is not leaking hardcore, just a little bit but i am at 82k miles so need to change fluid anyways. I see you located in Houston. I would drive up to Dallas and see Deansbimmer (MPorium BMW), thats what i am planning to do. He has done like 70 rod bearing jobs including mine and super knowledgable guy while having fair prices, you can be sure the job will be done correctly. I would still change the side gasket because if its already leaking, it will only get worse on my opinion. By the time replacement gasket will start leaking, the car will be at 150k+ miles

165,326 no leaks. I replaced my trans pan 60,000 ago because I hit something which cracked the pan but no leaks present after. I wonder if the mech unit gasket goes bad from hard driving or just a random failure because I live in socal and it is hot as hell which I would think heat is a gaskets enemy.

Not a crazy quote if it includes side gasket since they do need drop the tranny, though as others have pointed out, not sure side has to be done right away.

Just had my leak fixed under Carmax warranty at local indie. They charged $2k. For reference a DCT fluid change at dealer was quoted to me at $850.
