there are only excellent, good, fair, poor as far as condition to insurance company. Excellent ONLY applies to new cars same model year, any car older than 1 year can only be good at best.

Sorry to see that Raek. Back when the E9x M3 was a new model, any body work had to use new parts because there was nothing else available. Hate to think of all the totalled M3's in salvaged lots that are being used by insurances to fix almost brand new condition M3's.

Best way to pre-empt this BS is to find a good shop and take it to them and get an estimate right off the bat. Hand that to the insurance appraiser and let them work out the details with your shop of choice. Don’t fall for the quick check off the lowball estimate ploy that puts you in the middle of handling all of the change orders. If you enlist your own company by filing a claim with them they will back you—but at the cost of them being aware of the crash and having to wait for the subrogation to play out.
