Replace my e90 ZCP w/ Lexus GSF?

Looking for a possible change and better reliability.

I’ve enjoyed my m3 for the past 2+years. I intended to daily drive it, but only drove it a couple thousand miles. The main reason is because I park in a 12 level parking structure and the LSD groans a lot around every tight corner to the top.

Also, I’ve had to replace the TA’s and HVAC condenser at considerable expense. Now my Indy recommends the valve covers replaced due oil leaking, which smells after a hard run. Bad luck on this 1 owner car w/ under 50k when I bought it I guess.

Has anyone driven a GSF? They are relatively rare and prices have come down a lot. 2016’s are now about $50. I don’t track the car or drive in the canyons anymore and have a 911 as my fun car.

I’ve watched positive reviews on them. Chris Harris prefers it over the f10 m5 and the smoking tire guy raved about the GSF. Motor trend preferred the CTSV, but I don’t need a ballistic missile anymore and prefer a hassle free car instead.

Thoughts?

I'd say with a 911 as your toy, a GS-F as a daily would be an absolute killer one-two punch. I think they look slick on paper without any real experience with them. But knowing it's a Toyota means you're gonna be fine.

I'd probably do it.

What are the details on the E90?

Doesn't sound like a bad spec. No ZCP? What's your price? Sounds like you're 2nd owner?

is it the LSD or the power steering that's making the noise?

so you already took care of some of the most common issues with the e9x m3

if you get some help from local members and do the maintenance yourself going forward, you can save money, meet new friends, and keep enjoying the car

It is ZCP. I forgot that.

Yes, second owner.

Not sure about price yet. If I pull the trigger on a GSF the m3 will need to go.

I'd be interested to see what it goes for. I'm not in the position to make a move just yet as I'm taking on a new job and moving. But I'll be back in the market for another E90M soon enough. Keep my ear to the ground!

Dump the m3, they're dropping in value on a daily basis. Because you're a member in good standing, I'll reluctantly give you 15k after you ship it here and I get to assess the car. I know I'm being overly generous but I feel badly about your predicament.
p.s. Get the GSF

I feel like Lexus's are overly styled.. I know looks are subjective but it feels like everything that comes out of Japan is full of hex-y shaped cheesy plastics and chrome accents. I'm sure it's a very nice car though and your right there isn't too much that can live up to the reliability of a Lexus.

12 level parking structure! That's your main problem right there. How do you ever want to leave your apartment and have to do that treck I don't know.

I was at the IMSA race at Laguna Seca for the last race of 2018. On Saturday they were taking people out in the GSF. It's freakin fast and sounds amazing at high rpms. I don't know if they put an aftermarket exhaust on it.
Knowing lexus that car was probably bone stock.

I think a Lexus GSF would be a great driver.

I couldn't get over the Predator mouth front grill and having to look at it each day.

If you have a 911 then grab new M340 on a lease, it's got a Lexus rear end as a bonus.

Yeah I was talking about the way it looks.. op already has a 911 for his fast ride.. I was just saying I don't think it's a very good looking car compared to anything German... Lexus are great though for resale and reliability and I'm sure that ones fast..

I've driven the RC F, its a fun car but its not fun at the same time. I don't know how the GS F compares but the RC F feels like a boat. It sounds good, I would actually compare it to a 5.0 Mustang, especially with the Borla Atak on the RCF. I think it looks decent but would I ever own one? probably not. I can see why you'd want to have a hassle free car, at the end of the day its a car with Toyota Reliability, though I don't know the cons of the engine.

The 12 story parking garage is at work, but still a daily pain with all the noises the diff makes.

I must be getting old since I can’t stand dealing with repairs which I find very frustrating in my already hectic life. Reliability is huge for me.

I’m not a huge fan of the GSF exterior looks but l like interior a lot. It’s very nice compared to the spartan and occasionally squeaky e90 interior.

Had one myself (2016). At $50k it's a great deal. Objectively you get a lot more than e90(size, interior, quality). One thing I couldn't get over (hence whyI sold it) was its size. It's just too big to feel sporty. Looks are...controversial. I liked it otherwise and may go back to it someday.

I'm a guy who's a BMW fanatic but made the switch to a Lexus LS460 as a daily simply because I wanted to ride in reliable comfort without worry. The GSF is obviously much more an enthusiast car than the LS. That NA V8 sounds terrific and I'm glad there's at least some companies out there sticking with big NA V8s (for now). Styling of the "spindle" grill aside I think the GSF is a great daily, especially if you have a 911 for weekends.

I could give some insight of the GSF since I am an ISF owner myself. It’s not a bad car but it’s seriously heavy and would need more power to compensate for the weight. Interior is nice and all but Lexus didn’t do anything to give it more power over the time. 51 extra crank hp doesn’t really help and changing the compression ratio from what ISF has. The new M’s AMG’s and S/RS’s are like way above the F line in competition. My buddy with a 2016 GSF said as soon as he can afford an F90 M5 he’s pulling the trigger on one. Lexus can be reliable but the power factor isn’t really there. Yes there is a company who makes a supercharger kit but be ready to pay a good amount for not a whole lot of power. I’m FBo + tune in my ISF and my buddy’s F80 M3 with Stage 2 tune and downpipe took me easily. Sucks but yeah Lexus has some work to do and they are worried about losing customers more than anything
