ESS upgrade.......

Well it's been a year now since I've had my ESS 550 kit installed ( props to the ACM crew ) and I've been very happy with the performance but after much thought of moving onto a different car I've decided to finally keep the E90 and upgrade the kit, Mainly for the intercooled option. This is where I need some insite, first question is I have an my08 with 35k and ESS list that the 625 kit need the newer bearings, how many of you out there with my08/09 running 625 kit with no problems, please list mileage. I only do occasional spirited highway run, no track. Secondly ESS just released their 595 kit that is intended for my08/09 question on this is will there be a significant difference vs the 550 kit and 625 kit, member that have run the previous 600 kit please chime in. Lastly does the 625 kit overpower the M3 I'm not looking for a car that is unstable at higher speeds. As you can see I'm tossed between the intercooled 595 and 625 kit. I know the torque is pretty much the same on all these kits +10 but does the 35 extra hp 595>625 make a significant difference, if so at what speeds does the 625 have the advantage over the 595 and by how many car length given same car, mods and driver. You can see my supporting mods listed below. It's not a huge price difference just looking for reliability and drivability.

Thanks in advance.

I thought even the 550 kit required replacement bearings?

interested in the responses.

Len, you're long overdue . As previously discussed, 625 is the way to go. Shoot me an email or PM!

ESS "recommend(s) upgrading the rod bearings..." on the 625 kit for 2007-2008 year cars. After reading the various posts regarding the bearing clearance I'd go with the 702/703 bearings, not the coated bearings ESS sells.

Just a thought....

As to which kit, the 595 or the 625, I'd go with the 625. Had the VT -600, when that was out, on my e93 (2011) and given the extra weight of the convertible, it was a perfect match for the weight. I could floor it and get excellent traction, very little slip. Went to a 650 and it just spun the tires. Having said that I preferred the 650, overall better on the highway with it's extra torque.

Just my 2 cents......

If your going to upgrade, then UPgrade to 625. Although you will get more peak HP, you will benefit from the added boost down low to add excitement to your daily driving habits

In the new haven area.

Car's down now. Spun the bearings.
Be a few months before she's up and running. No hurry since it's winter
