BC Racing BR Clunk
So I just installed these coilovers (yes i know not the best ones) and have had a clunk in the driver's side whenever im going over even the slightest bumps.
I checked the top nut, reset the preload at 4mm and checked endlinks. Anyone have any suggestions? After resetting the preload the clunk got a bit quieter but its still there. Thanks. |

Double check your torque specs on all mounting points.
I had a right rear clunk that I thought was the battery being stupid , but I somehow forgot to torque the top mounting bolt correctly. When you checked the top nut, how many ft lbs do they require? Quote:

so bc racing stated that torque specs should follow the factory specs so for the strut tower nuts i went with 25 ft lb (3 on each side) and the strut mount nut wouldve been 47 ft lb

It may be the upper camber plate spherical bushing is bad. They go out over time and need to be replaced. It would be kinda odd that they'd be bad when new.

It's most likely the bottom bolt that holds your strut in place.
When I installed my suspension, I was getting the same symptoms as you, even after torqueing to spec. |

reset the preload, 6-8mm up front and make sure the swaybar endlinks are even on both sides and that there is no binding of the swaybar. also check to make sure the endlinks are tightened on the strut and swaybar.
if installed properly and preloaded properly, there should be no noise.

Just providing an update for other people's reference
Reinstalled the new set with fronts preloaded to 6.5mm and so far no clunking or barely anything noticeable. Also made sure of tight end links and put in new bushings Dampeners are set to 12 clicks from soft for now since NJ roads are shit |
