boostedM's (re)build - Rotrex supercharger E92 M3
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I'm sure you all know my car by now. A few of you have even seen it in person. I loved how it was set up. But, like many of you, something in me just isn't satisfied unless I'm adding on, so with my old Stage 2 kit wearing down (80K+ miles on the kit, 90k+ on the car), I figured it was time for a total transformation. The version of my M that you are all so familiar with looks a little something like this... Now it's getting a little bit of everything done. So welcome to the official boostedM build thread! First thing is first. In order to put this.... ...on. I need to take care of these nasty rod bearings. Out with the 90k+ mile OEMs, in with the VAC coated rod bearings. And since I'm upping the power at high mileage, might as well get a fresh clutch in there as well. This calls for a Spec Twin Disc (on the left, first pic.) Expected completion date for this iteration will be on or before the second week of May. Stay tuned! |

I've always wondered this.....was the car reliable with 80K+ miles and a supercharger?

Zero problems. As you can see, the rod bearings were on their way out and the HKS blower from the stage 2 kit was wearing down, but that's to be expected with the mileage.

Very cool to see a car go that far with a supercharger kit. A testament to how awesome the S65 is made. Just out of curiosity, did you know your bearings were wearing because of oil analysis or did you plan to change them out anyway?
