Well let me added some context, I was around 48 years old. For many of us at that age,
If it is to be loud as a daily driver, it must also be elegant. Think more of a gentlemen's bad ass instead of boyracer.
The cat-less + oem combo was a no no. The kids loved it.
I had to remove the Xpipe and returned it (smell was too bad also).

Next was the oem xpipe and the AA exhaust.
This was the beautiful combo that garnered compliments everyday from every member of society (lol). Problem was the sound was less interesting from inside the cabin and the drone was always present. Had that grab 4 years.

Finally tried the MPE which I have now. Sounds good, no compliments but it does turn heads. It isn't loud enough for me but I tend to enjoy it more because the I like the difference sounds it makes.

Best exhaust experience I've had was my friends gintani catless xpipe with a rear Dinan.

No drone, quiet like near stock levels. When you get on it, oh my god! It is loud, exotic and elegant from inside the cabin. I could ride this combo into my 90s.

If money was no issue my next steps would be:
1. Test pipes with the MPE if raspy and cheap sounding then
2. Dinan rear and gintani catless

The Corsa is also a winner.
Very good info.. Thank you.

Bumping this - any more feedback on the RE resonated pipes?

I like things on the quieter side (a little more volume, primarily at higher RPM/WOT, would be okay), with zero drone and minimal rasp. Given this, I think I will be keeping the OEM muffler. But I want the power/tq of going stage 2, so I am thinking of adding these resonated pipes to an otherwise stock system.

I have the Alex Alpine tune. I love it and he's great to work with.

I did the rod bearings, resonated test pipes, thermostat, spark plugs, motor mounts, and tune at the same time so it really feels like a whole new car.

I'v never heard the ACM mod in person so I can't comment on it. This is probably as loud as I would ever want it though. Just right.
I got the Alpine stage 2 tune as well for my current setup (test pipe + secondary cat + resonator + stock muffler) and the overrun is barely present. I will get the occasional burble but no pops and nothing you can hear unless you really really listen.

Oh really? I'm wondering if the exhaust mod makes that much of a difference since we have the same setup basically. Mine pops like crazy lol. The higher the RPM the more pops I get. Usually have to be over around 3.5k rpm to get any pops and also have to modulate the throttle slightly to get it to start.

I think these would be great with a stock system. I have the two pipe mod and it's pretty loud but not in a bad way. The car sounds nice and mean. With the rear section stock I'd imagine it would tone it down a bit and make it perfect for someone not looking to make as much noise.

I'm about to pull the trigger on these resonated test pipes... any last considerations before doing it? I already have a stage 1 Alpine tune.. so easy to change the map. One thing which has held me back is chopping up the stock x pipe, but hopefully it's easy enough to go back to stock for emissions in 4 months.. (I have 2 pipe OEM mod, but eventually want the Corsa)

Only way you'd be able to simply swap in the cats is to add v-band clamps on all 3 pieces, the cats, resonated TP's, and XPipe. Otherwise the cats won't simply clamp on based on where they are cut.

Best option is to get another stock x-Pipe for smog.

Just got these installed today, paired with my OEM mod (2 pipe method). Love the sound and performance thus far. Way better than I expected... zero drone, and it has a good higher pitch, clean noise when on the throttle.

Test pipes are completely exposed to the ground downstream of the bend (unless you've added a custom undertray covering them or something).

That's very odd unless the stock pipe wasn't cut far enough downstream and the TP's are pushing the XPipe downwards?...

I am so confused right now haha, seems like what I want with my m3 is impossible to get (almost every post about removing the Cats for track pipes is like "It's a bit louder but not really at idle-4k rpm"). I want the car to be louder from idle to 4k rpm but have a deep rumble and no high pitched noise, like at all... its a V8 it should be deep and should rumble. I've always been a small block Chevy guy but this thing is everything I want in a daily EXCEPT that I can't hear the damn thing below 4k rpm if the radio or air is on even with the roof and windows down (that's pretty depressing for an over 400hp V8 Sports car if you ask me) I didn't buy this thing because it was so amazingly... quiet? What do you guys think is the best option for that?

Test Pipes will work best for your needs. In regards to pitch and tone, the muffler will determine that aspect.

Quiet ? Sheet, I’m running no cats at all (primary’s & secondary’s) no resonators just the Remus Race mufflers and thats it. This thing is loud, yes its a little quiet when just cruising but when you step on it a little bit and specially if you’re on sport plus its stupid racecar like loud.

Sport plus simply increases throttle sensitivity.
If you just push your foot down harder and faster in normal mode = sport plus.

Ok when we say it's not louder at idle or under 4K, I think most mean, it's not like insanely louder in the car... idle has a nicer Rumble, that's more 'free'.. my idle RPM is 100-200 more than pre- cat delete for some reason, but it's also waayyy smoother. Not sure how that's related. If you give it throttle, even if it's under 4K, it's definitely louder, but if you wanted to ease it around town and not shatter windows, the setup definitely allows for that.

Here's a clip with these TPs with the OEM 2 pipe mod. Before I got these, I looked for hours and couldn't find one video of this setup, so sharing in case others want a sample of this setup.

Sounds virtually identical to my non-resonated TPs with ACM mod.

Sounds pretty sweet in the video above. I have the 4 pipe method, and am considering resonated test pipes (keeping secondary cats and oem resonator).

Is the volume easy to contr with the throttle at any rpm?

Ie during regular city driving, if I'm gentle on the throttle, is it fairly tame?
