From RS4 back to M3
Hi,
I am a previous 2 time M3 owner who moved to an RS4 for it's 4 doors. I recently moved into a 550 trying to be more "practical." Looking back I should have just stayed in the RS4, because for me the 550 is just too big, and I really missed the handling in the twisities. Calling around I was amazed at the willingness of dealers in my area to discount on new orders. This definitely wasn't the case in prior M3s. Without even trying dealers offered $2000 and $2500 above invoice (a $2400 and $2900 discount respectively). My dealer was able to put my order in on a vehicle that was in 112 status (last step prior to beginning of production.) It will be good to be back in an "M" and I am looking forward to experiencing the difference between day to day living with the M versus the RS4. Just wanted to say hello and share my excitement. |

It will be interested to read your thoughts on the RS4 vs E90 M3, though it's a shame there was a car in between these which will effect how you compare a little bit.
Is it 6MT or DCT that you are getting? The only reason I ask is that I found the M3's character as a daily driver to be much better with the DCT than it was with the 6MT, though admittedly my time with a manual M3 was brief (36 hours). |

Welcome back to the dark side
I test drove the RS4 right before my S5 and chose the S5 due to the new gadgets, but eventually I sold that for the M3. I have ZERO regrets |

I picked the 6MT which I really missed while in the 550. To be fair my time in the M3 is very brief and I am really looking forward to getting some real time in (after break-in) to be able to compare.

Congrats.
So you have to share - besides the 6mt, what'd you get? Options, colors?

These are the options I ordered. Tried to put everything I could think of, so that I wouldn't have any regrets and will hold onto it. Amazing thing is that it comes in loaded about $67 which is $5000 less than the RS4 was back in 2006. So comparatively it seems like a bargain.

+1, I always thought the RS4's exhaust sounded awesome. Kinda sounds like the Remus sport but a more deeper tone. If only my M3 sounded like that stock.
