Limp mode svc engine with no error codes?,,
So my 2008 e93 m3 has 17800 miles and is used as a weekend/track toy.
Only mods are dinan intake, aa catless xpipe and burger dp fix. Recently, past 3 weeks, the car will be fine but at least once during a 30min drive, the car will go into limp mode, reduced redline, but the car wont barely move even in limp mode. I have to restart the car every time and all is fine. At first this happened 2or3 times at a long traffic light, but now its happening at hwy speeds which is too dangerous for me to chance anymore. Car is well taken care of as this is my 3rd car and in the 2nd owner as if 7k miles. I use the bms can tool to pull any codes and nada, nothing. Im curious on how I should go about figuring this one out. My $tealer is useless and im out of wty for the past year. Is there a slight chance the bms dp fix could cause this? Ive had it on since Nov without issue. Thanks, Justin

I think it's probably the scan tool... because if you're in an emergency program, it should absolutely have faults.
Other potential explanations: 1) The DME is faulty or there is some sort of communication fault 2) The ecu is tuned and faults have been masked from being visible

Use a BMW specific tool to scan it (Dealer tool, Autologic, BT, etc..).. A generic one may not pick everything up

Seems I only used the M3 as a track toy and weekend car and with triple digit temps now, I can't see me using the convertible feature. $tealer gave me a decent trade in.
