iPod questions

I have an 09 M3 coupe. My iPod nano is connected via the central armrest BMW cable that came with my car. Search did not yield answers to these questions:

1. How do you get it to shuffle all the songs on your iPod or on a particular playlist?

2. If I leave my iPod plugged in all the time, is it charging my iPod even when the car is parked and turned off, thus draining the car's battery?

Depending on your iPod model it may or may not charge. It should charge though. For my 08 M3 w/t the older iDrive it works fine.. The car battery issue well the car is smart enough to know these things and it wont just kill the battery. & keep in mind it's a car battery and you're running an iPod not a small country. jk jk

Click the options button and then turn on the random mode.

No. It turns off when the accessory power turns off.

Thanks.

I'll look for the Options button.

You will have to click the random button every time you get in the car if you randomize through the idrive. The only way I have found that works is to set my ipod to shuffle and then plug the cable in. That way it is not reset every time I start the car.

Must have been a running change then. My 2010 will stay in random mode in the iDrive indefinitely. Also, if I turn on random mode on the iPod and turn random off on the Idrive it will play straight through, no random. In my car random only works when it's selected on the iDrive and stay on until I turn it off.
