Does anyone have part numbers for the front and rear brake pads for the following M3 Brembo BBK?

-380 mm front rotors, 6 piston caliper
-380 mm rear rotors, 4 piston caliper

Ugh, how about the FMSI (Friction Materials Standards Institute) numbers for the stock pads - anyone have these? A potential vendor of some new pads claims to need these to get the correct new pads. Thanks again.

Brembo supplies the GT kit with Ferodo DS2500's.

Buy the Ferodos and save the cost of the Brembo stamp and increase in price.

I went with slightly aggressive in the front with DS3000's and stuck with the DS 2500's out back.

The DS2500 fronts were in the $200 range around 250'ish and the DS3000's were slightly more expensive around $320 or so.

These pads are amazing by the way. The bite of the DS3000's is simply amazing. I did about 4 track days this year with those out front.

Good tips. I've read a lot of debate as to whether the DS 2500's are identical to the OEM Brembo pads. Many say yes, many say no. Either way I am pursuing some Carbotech pads. Unfortunately they need this somewhat obscure FMSI numbers.

Can you say more about the differences between the 2500's and 3000's? Noise, cold bite, hot bite, dust, fade resistance, etc.?

FMSI numbers
FMSI numbers are assigned to production cars by the Friction Materials Standards Institute. Aftermarket calipers, such as those found in a Brembo GT kit do not have an FMSI number. Each pad manufacturer has their own pad shape code that they assign to the shapes used for these calipers.

FMSI for OEM e92 M3 Calipers
FMSI code for the front OEM= D09180
FMSI code for the rear OEM= D09190

I'll clear up some other info in this thread while I'm here. We (Essex Parts Services) have been Ferodo's North American importer for a number of years, so I'm quite familiar with their products.

Ferodo Pad Compounds
The Ferodo pads shipped with Brembo GT kits are darn-near identical to the Ferodo DS2500. For the e92 M3, the DS2500 is an outstanding street and autoX pad. On lighter cars (FT86, S2000, etc.), you can get away with running them on the track. The DS2500 has a nice amount of bite, moderate dust, and typically low squeal (usually chirps a little at the final roll-up to a stop).

For the M3 hitting the track however, I'd recommend one of Ferodo's newer compounds such as the DS1.11 or DSUNO. The DS1.11 is an endurance compound with a nice, flat torque curve. It lasts a long time, and is easy on discs. The DSUNO has higher mu, but will wear out a little more quickly. Both are made from the same core materials as the DS2500, so swapping between the DS2500/DS1.11/DSUNO/DS3000 depending on your usage environment at the time doesn't cause any problems (which can't be said of many other street/track pad swaps, which can create pad layering problems such as judder and vibration).

You can see more details on the Ferodo pad materials on the essex website, including torque curves, etc. Click on the little blue tabs towards the bottom for info on each compound.

Deciphering Ferodo Part Numbers
Ferodo pad codes start with either an FCP or FRP. FCP typically indicates a production-based pad shape designed to fit into a road car caliper with an FMSI number. FRP is usually reserved for racing caliper fitments. This isn't a hard rule however, because some pad shapes are used in both racing and street calipers/applications.

The four or five digits after the FCP or FRP prefix designate the pad shape.

The trailing suffix after the numbers is the compound code, as follows:
H= DS2500
R= DS3000
W= DS1.11
Z= DSUNO

Hopefully that clears up some of the confusion. Brake pads can be a bit messy, since all manufacturers use different part numbering schemes (even though they may correspond to the same FMSI code). When you bring aftermarket calipers into the mix, it can get really ugly!

Just a heads up to double check your pad height when replacing.

The wider Ferodo pads have a '-N' suffix from my observation. I got the narrow ones by accident for my 380mm rotors in spite of a lot of searching.

The other thing I noticed was that my old Brembo fm1000 pads didn't have a 'gutter' in the middle. My guess is that it was just an older design but if anyone has more insight I'd like to know.
