I got the 180TW version. Discount Tire price matched the $102.87. With $400 credit due to them damaging tires previously, this was the total I paid. $64 to balance and $11.48 for the tires lol.

Edit: Their cost for the tire was $59 each, and their customer price before price match was $150 or $160. Makes me wonder how much they markup other tires.

And I still have a lot of monies to spend on a good tire if these turn out to be crap. I'll probably go straight to NT05s if that is the case.

Anyone familiar with this tire. Kinda tempted to try them out but haven't heard or seen any reviews on them

Nexen is an off brand which is probably a step below Kumho or Hankook.

For $200, I wouldn't take the chance. You're close to other reputable and proven tires. Under $100 for a Nankang? Why the hell not?

+1 this quickly becomes a dicey hobby when you start pushing it, and the tire has to be ueberstrong to keep you safe; I wouldn't chance it with a second-tier tire..

The RE-71R is very fast tire for one lap, but fades quickly after that.

The VR1 is supposed to be similar performance wise, to the RS3

The Hankooks and Kumhos seem to do fine. I just haven't seen anyone use Nexen on the track. So who wants to be the guinea pig?

I'll scrub in the Nankangs at an autocross event then do a track event or few with them. Then I can give the Nexen SUR4s a try. Or you people can buy them for me.

If worst comes to worst (i.e. Nankangs suck but I need good tires for an upcoming event), I have a set of NT01s that I can mount.

My friend was thinking of setting up a track tire program and gets some sick deals so I'll see if I can Guinea pig it. He's busy traveling the world now since his shop runs itself. He did give me four rs3 as a wedding gift. Best wedding gift ever. Got 8 tires for 800. I need to get married every so often lols
