Avin 9" PX6 - no sound

Just installed an Avin 9" head unit in my E90 (no iDrive, no Logic 7). Not getting any sound over the car's speakers; just the unit's internal beeper. Fuses and connections all seem good. Also tried a factory reset and unplugging all nonessentials.

What's weird to me is that I can't see anything on Avin's support website for this issue. I wonder if it has something to do with the way they limit access to it based on your order number. It also didn't let me view a link they sent me via email...

I'm in touch with their support but haven't heard anything useful yet. Anyone have experience with this issue or something similar? Any tips?

Do you need to plug it into the aux port for sound?

Shouldn't have to, AFAICT.

So I know this isn't really news, but Avin support kind of sucks. Long story short, I feel like I'm trying to communicate with an AI that is crudely scanning my messages for keywords and responding with stock answers, except it's also ignoring some of my messages and introducing random delays to give the illusion of human authorship.

The latest they've told me I need their MOST adapter... which is for cars that have MOST external amps, which mine doesn't. Just to humor them, I tested my stock head unit with the MOST unplugged, and it played sound over the car's speakers as normal. I've told them all of this multiple times and the conversation is going nowhere.

Also, there's clearly some selectivity in their responses. I noticed early on that they'd respond in a somewhat respectable amount of time if I messaged them on their website, but responding to email chains is hit-or-miss.

I suspect they're just overwhelmed because there's like 2 of them, and that they're... not primarily English speakers residing on this continent.

Anyway. Still hoping for a positive resolution.

Their customer service sucks. I had an issue with them and they told me that's my problem because they have sold thousands of units and no one has had an issue. I eventually figured out the issue and I am pretty happy with the unit

Glad to hear it.

I ended up returning mine. They refunded me in full. Really didn’t like the unit or their support, but I’m happy with the resolution.

Not sure if it's your issue, but worth a shot.

Not all that relevant to me any more as I no longer have the unit, but I appreciate you chiming in.

While I was troubleshooting, I tried plugging my stock head unit back in WITHOUT the fiber connection. It still played audio over the speakers completely normally. That’s how I concluded that my amp was not MOST.
